    I’m queer, and I loathe skinny jeans on men. Especially when the body that fills them looks like a honey-baked ham, and the feet that fills the flip-flops usually worn by them look like the head of rake.

    On a more serious note, hope they recover from this quickly, and the suspect suffers eternally.

      I don’t think PTSD manifests by physically attacking people for perceiving them as gay unless there’s already underlying homophobia there. PTSD wouldn’t make him any less racist if he was physically attacking black people and screaming n****er at them. The condition may be responsible for acting on the hate, but I doubt it has much to do with the hate itself.

    Supporters of the victims have now organized an “I Wear Skinny Jeans” benefit concert for Abbey and his friends.

    I never thought I would be caught in the middle of a story about a hate crime, but this reaction is equally uncalled for. Let’s all just calm down!

      Skinny jeans are ok if you’re truly skinny, but low rise jeans are absolutely out of the question if you are over 30 (unless you have a well-defined six-pack - the kind on your abs, not the kind in your refrigerator).

        I’m not a skinny gal by any means, but I absolutely HATE the extra fabric that flaps around my calves on bootleg/flare/straight cut jeans. It just makes me look dumpier, saggy and terrible. Skinny jeans are by far the most comfortable pants I’ve ever worn, so I will never stop wearing them. You can make all the “ew nasty big girl is gross and shouldn’t be in public and should be ashamed of herself at all times” arguments you want, but those people can FUAD. I am infinitely happier once I found jeans that actually fucking fit/are comfortable and usable and, by god, I think I look great in them.

        It's a hate crime if the attacker chose the victim because he believed him to be gay, even if he was wrong. The hate crime designation is about intent.
