Oof, if the previous owners knew that there was a creepy nutjob sending creepy shit to anyone who lived in the house, and didn't disclose that, that's a pretty hefty lawsuit they're looking at.

It all depends on the law in New Jersey. In some states, you don’t have to disclose psychological factors like violent murders etc. This may fall under that, where you don’t have to disclose, but must answer honestly if asked.

On what grounds? Its not even a requirement to report a home was previously used as a meth lab in all 50 states.

I skimmed the article, but the one thing that stuck in my mind: “They paid $1.3 million for that house?” It’s so tiny.

Also: they should so use this premise for a horror movie. The father is all, “you’re all being scared for no reason. this is nonsense!” ::insert loud thump at the door::

That’s funny. I live in L.A., and had the exact opposite thought. $1.3 million will get you a 2bd/2ba here.

Is there no way to figure out where these weird ass packages are coming from? Are they being sent through the mail or left anonymously? Are the cops just like “meh”? What in the hell is a disorderly person’s crime?

I’m going to guess that if ONE such note was received by the president or a congressman, we’d sure as hell know almost immediately where it came from.

      So, yes.

Looking at the lawsuit, there seem to be some credible, serious threats being made about the children. This story seems to leave out a LOT, like why is this not being investigated further?

YES. FAMILY. YOU ARE OF THE HOUSE. BLOOD FLOWS BOTH UP AND DOWN. HAVE YOU EATEN FROM THE POISONED FRUIT? I HAVE AND I KNOW IT TO BE SWEET.

I CAN HEAR YOU BREATHE AS YOU SLEEP. DO YOU DREAM? I DO NOT. I CAN SHOW YOU WHAT ITS LIKE. THE GLASS IS CRACKING. SOON IT WILL BREAK.

Well when you move into a doppleganger of the house from the Amityville Hooro, what the hell do you expect.

“Lets see, our new house is at the top of this dead end road.....666 Haunted Hill Drive.... sounds like a lovely neighborhood!"

I have too, though mine were received virtually. They outlined pretty specific things they were going to to do to my child, and the police would do nothing about it and laughed me out of the station.

Westfield’s mayor says the letters have been classified as a disorderly person’s crime and suggested Get Organized® and California Closets™ as possible solutions.
