And here some the Gawker commentators saying that the cop had it coming or deserved it.

Or eyes. He can use those to read the hyperbolic cop-bashing posts that are prevalent on this site.

Fuck. What was the point? They knew exactly who he was and his recapture was an almost certainty.

My condolences to the officer’s family.

Does Travis Boys look like a particularly intelligent man to you?

What gets me is that even after being shot, the officer was still trying to detain the suspect; still doing his job. Unbelievably sad. How awful for his family to have an empty seat at the table this Father’s Day morning.

If you are about to go on about “Black on Black crime”, die in a fire. Just jump into a motherfucking volcano.

The faux outrage is so infuriating. Am I to believe these racist people who bitch about intraracial violence (which happens in every racial crime) in black communities care that black people are being killed? Please.

This one probably won’t get the scrutiny or the coverage as other ones.

      Out on a limb here...

I await the news stories discussing the suspect’s childhood and troubled mental state, as well as accompanying photos of him when he was nine, smiling and innocent. A simpler time that allows news commentators to wonder why his mental problems went untreated.

(looks at clock on wall in futility...)

The differences with this one is, the Officer was not unarmed, and the perpetrator was arrested and will be held accountable for his actions.

Some have a window you can slide. Psychologically, minor offenders or people who need to get in back (like after an accident) then don’t feel like dangerous criminal and relax.

I've been in cars equipped this way.

He didn’t get out of the handcuffs. He made his way to the front of the car through an opening in the police cage.

Christ. Was “The Final Countdown” playing on the radio?

“There’s speculation he was double jointed.”

Is there? Was there also speculation that he’s made of a space-age hyperflexible polymer? Because those are equally not a thing.

I’m hypermobile in my shoulders and I can do this trick myself. Impressed many a schoolmate and made $10 in a bar bet one time. It’s totally doable.

New York Daily news has a more believeable story:

“accused shooter Travis Boys, who smuggled a gun into the cruiser and managed to shoot the officer in the right side of his chest while he was handcuffed”

“Holloway was taking Boys to Orleans Parish Prison when the flexible perp maneuvered his hands to the front of his body, shot the cop and then busted through the cruiser cage that separates the front and back seats to escape out of the passenger side door, Gamble said.”

For those keeping track - the cops who had custody of Boys before Holloway failed to do the pat-down correctly and did not find the gun. It’s almost like someone on the inside gave Boys a gun for the specific purpose of murdering Holloway.

“The veteran police officer, who had just started his shift that morning, was tasked with transporting Boys from the department’s 5th District station.” Look to see who inside the 5th wanted Holloway dead.
