This should not surprise anybody who is familiar with employment law. In general, your boss can fire you for just about any reason or even for no reason at all. They can fire you because you root for the wrong sports team or drink tea instead of coffee. Hurray for capitalism and job creators!

That's not true. A paper trail of fireable offenses must be established to avoid potentially paying unemployment. Otherwise instead of layoffs, companies would just have mass firings for bullshit reasons.

Depends on which state you’re in, and if you’re rep’d by a (whispers) U-N-I-O-N (/whispers). It’s not like you can’t get fired, but at least you can have some form of recourse. Now if you’re in a knuckledragging Right to Get Fired state, yep.

“...allows Colorado companies the freedom to write their own employment policies regarding marijuana.” Yeah, right, the executives probably write those policies banning marijuana during one of their 5 martini lunches or at their after work 8 beer happy hour.

If you ever see an expense report from a senior corporate executive half of the food charges are liquor... Premium liquor.

Because of ADA companies can’t fire someone for having a disability so now companies will just fire employees for treating their disability.

Time to reclassify. Just like the government saying they weren’t going to enforce DOMA, the Attorney general needs to step up and reclassify marijuana as a schedule II.

Well considering the feds have just now stopped raiding dispensaries in states that have legalized, I can’t imagine this will happen anytime soon.

They need more stories like the Charlotte’s Web strain to get out there. It does far more good than bad to reclassify and legalize marijuana. There needs to be some class action suits (If there aren’t some already. That’ll gain attention and help speed up the process. Still probably years off, but it’ll be a start.

As a CO resident, not native, I have an appreciation for this. To me it shows the fight that is still going on.

Hash oil, BHO, wax, shatter, any variation on MJ you can find It is a bad excuse to treat people like cocaine peddlers, it is a shitty reason to give somebody a bad wrap, and frankly, it is a witch hunt.

At this point in our economy it is almost like big money is super pissed that they didn’t get on the ground level on this, and it is an industry they don’t have a fucking clue on how to get involved in.

I guarantee most of the money made off pot in this country is going to people that live in this country, based really simply on quality, quantity, and demand.

Has anybody ever worked up an estimate on how much money our country spends on imprisoning people for having pot on them?!

I could go on, but then again who the fuck, in this land of the free even cares. Because, I am starting to think only money does.

Those numbers go hand in hand with the number of young black men being arrested as it seems the most popular charges are MJ related.

This was a good ruling by the colorado supreme court. If you do not like your companies policies you are free to find employment elsewhere.

Also federal law, which still finds marijuana illegal, trumps state law.

Everyone who says you are free to find employment else where completely forgets that life sucks and then you die and that employees largely have no power in the grand scheme of things.

It’s a good time to do so, as Dish is also facing ginormous FTC fines for flouting the Do Not Call List. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/dish-netw…
