Well, gthere might be union organizers there or something... it’s all about freedom and liberty, well maybe their freedom and liberty but not ours.

Well since protests are illegal in the PRC, they’re just following the law. It’s a bad law, but it’s also a “I’d rather not find myself in a re-education camp” sort of piece of advice.

Rumor is that Uber is working on a killer app that will allow (mostly Chinese and UAE) companies to replace their relatively high-cost indentured servitude with even lower-cost slave labor. The slaves will benefit from having some measure of the illusion of control over their lives and Uber will profit from the economic delta between indentured servitude and actual slavery.

This is what we call, in The Valley, a win-win

Illusions are tasty. They have to be when that’s all you’ve got to eat.

We firmly oppose any form of gathering or protest, and we encourage a more rational form of communication for solving problems

What, pray tell, is irrational about publicly airing grievances?

Libertarians who go along with authoritarian commies. I’m not surprised (dogmatists all tend to be authoritarian at the end of the day) but Saint (if atheist) Ayn would not be proud.

I have to admit to being impressed that Uber has managed to make traditional taxis with their price-gouging and cars that smell like bus station urinals look good.

Uber is not (only) the future of “ride-sharing”, it’s the future of labour market in general. Also the future like in back to the XIXth century.

Wow, uber truly is a scummy, shitty comapny with no regard for its “employees” or people in general. I hope they fail.
