I’ve ended up at a couple of former Olympic-host cities, the saddest of which was probably Calgary.

Seems to me like hosting is a mug’s game.

The only upshot I can see is that we’d get money to finally improve the MBTA. The rest? Meh. We’d actually have a use for the stadium, as we’re apparently looking to move the New England Revolution to the city proper, and we’re hurting for a massive venue that isn’t Gillette, but it’s REALLY fucking pricey.

The activist group fighting against the 2024 Boston bid suggests that we WOULDN’T get money to improve the T, for whatever that’s worth.

    1. Direct the hatred at the fucking college locust swarm, where it belongs.

    2. No, we will not be getting the Olympics. Won’t happen. Ever. And that’s fine.

Nah, it’s gonna happen. The other viable bids are brutal dictatorships and Boston Games mean NBC maximizes profit. What’s gonna happen, though, is that public financing comes off the table in 2016 due to ballot initiative, so the IOC and the sponsors will actually have to pay for everything. It’s going to be a hilarious clusterfuck.

Brutal dictatorships are pretty much the best for international sporting events. You can ask for damn near anything and they’ll get it for you.

Give it to LA, they like shiny baubles that cost more than they’re worth.

Go further. Make LA the permanent host city for US summer olympics.

Actually LA made money hosting it the last time so yeah. They apparently know how to do it right.

Until battery throwing becomes an Olympic sport, I don’t see how it could be supported in Boston

39% approval is still WAY too high for a group of greedy, lying thieves. We can do better than that!

You’re better off not getting it Boston. I was glad when NYC lost the bid.
