Not to make a meal out of the piece of corn stuck in that big turd of a statement, but men who father children and then are nowhere to be found after the baby is born should be shamed and mocked at every opportunity.

Like my cousin, who in between manic bouts of optimistic memequotes and carefully constructed selfies, sometimes takes a moment to update everyone on the last time her son has seen his father and posts images of the $0 balance on her child support statements. Oh, and now she has a baby daughter and history repeats itself. Neither of these guys appear to give a shit about this either.

Both parents are at fault in that situation (unless they actually chose to start a family together and one of them was like “fuck this” after the child was born). The man could have worn a condom, the woman could have been on birth control, and when all else fails, she could of had an abortion. No one in this day and age has to get pregnant and have a child if they don't want to, you can't pass the blame to one party or the other - they are both idiots.

Oh, she is an idiot. I can’t feel bad for her. I do think the guys feigned interest in being dads for a brief moment, probably not long after they were granted permission to not use a condom

Bush points to Nathaniel Hawthorne’s 1850 novel The Scarlet Letter, in which the main character is forced to wear a large red “A” for “adulterer” on her clothes to punish her for having an extramarital affair that produced a child, as an early model for his worldview.

The silliest myth of the pre-2016 media hype: The idea that Hillary Clinton is the only candidate with a long, potentially damaging history. Jeb Bush has baggage like a snowbird at the Miami airport.

Jeb Bush, like his brother, like Mitt Romney, is a legacy who doesn’t really care about conservative politics, except as they affect his buddies’ checkbooks. He’ll happily sing whatever song he must to stay in conservatives’ good graces. The fascinating part is Republicans’ ability to consistently reject the ideologues they claim to adore in favor of these cold-blooded fakers. We liberals are only willing to make that kind of accommodation for Hillary.

(Probably apocryphal): Supposedly, in 1999-2000, when Dubya was getting his campaign started, Barbara Bush said: “I have good news and bad news. The good news is that one of my sons is running for President. The bad news is that it’s George.”

As HuffPo points out, governor Jeb put his (nonjudgmental!) theories into practice, refusing to veto “a very controversial bill that required single mothers who did not know the identity of the father to publish their sexual histories in a newspaper before they could legally put their babies up for adoption.”

Is this an actual law or did it not pass the FL legislature?

It passed overwhelmingly and became law in 2001, shortly after Jeb took office. An updated version of a child welfare bill, with the notification requirements taken out, replaced it two years later.

Important to note: The original bill had bipartisan suppport and was cosponsored by Skip Campbell, an African American Democrat from down here in South Florida. He also led the push to replace it when its “unintended consequences” for single moms became clear, according to his interview with the New York Times.

This has been a banner year for insane bullshit so far, but that is so fucking insane my mind just can’t even process it.. hell, even if I’d heard about it back in 2001, I think I’d still be sitting in a stunned puddle of whatthefuck to this very day.

Because he is such a paragon of good parenting:

His daughter Noelle has been arrested for forging prescriptions and another time for having crack cocaine in her posession. His son John Ellis was arrested for public drunkenedss and resisting arrest and previously arrested for being naked with his 16-year old girlfriend in a car. And his son George narrowly missed being arrested for driving his Ford Explorer over — and destroying — the lawn of his ex-girlfriends parents house at 4AM after they broke up.

Let’s talk about Jeb’s abuse of power concerning his daughter’s addictions, like when she tried to pass off a forged doctor’s prescription at a Walgreen’s in early 2002...which probably caused the revision of the Three Strikes Law in Florida under Jeb’s watch.

Scarlet Letter is perfect! Because it is all about the hypocrisy of public shaming (Reverend impregnated her, right?) So yes, Scarlet Letter is EXACTLY the Republican’s vision of society.

LOL. It’s always amazed me that many conservatives, most of whom claim to be hardcore Christians, are into public shaming despite the whole “let he who is without sin cast the first stone” is an actual thing in the bible.

Another conservative who read The Scarlet Letter, but identified with the bad guys. I’m sure he also thinks Nineteen Eighty-Four is a parable about the dangers of socialism.

What hope do these wealthy young men have to better themselves, when their education is so poor? Where were the parents?
