    Notes on this video:

    1. Why the army roll?

    2. Teens run from cops. This is nothing new.

    3. Why is the one cop wilding out? Those boys were talking to the other cop when he rolls up hollering to “GET ON THE GROUND!”

    4. 2:50 is when I get pissed. That little girl was walking the fuck away. She was giving him lip, but she was WALKING. AWAY. Because he got in his fucking feels at being talked back to by a black girl he draaaaged her back and tackled her.

    5. I don’t see him telling any of the white people to disperse.

    6. He was really about to blast on those people.

    7. 6:00. Look at the boy in blue. You can tell the cops fucked him up. SMH.

I just saw on Twitter a guy saying that he would have done the same thing when faced with 20 kids because he’d feel threatened. It makes me crazy. I have aunts who are teachers and have broken up worse parties with more kids with a raised eyebrow.

i think the roll was to cover up the fact that he tripped - but I cosign everything else you just said.

This post has been updated to specify that the gathering was at a community pool.

So what does that mean? Were those kids allowed to be there? Were they guests of someone in the community or did they pay to go in (which is how community pools work where I live)?

    Two things:

    1. The cop was unnecessarily manhandling that young woman. Too much force.

    2. The “two unarmed boys” thing doesn’t matter. If you watch the video, as he puts that woman on the ground, those two run up to him and yell (at least on of them), “What the fuck you doing my n*gga.” Or something to that affect. They are also — at least the one who yelled that — squared up, i.e., they drop down and raise their arms as if they’re about to throw a punch. Honestly, the cop was manhandling that woman, yes, but their subsequent reaction made it seem pretty clear that the cop could perceive a physical threat from them. He withdrew his gun and did not raise it and they ran away. I don’t clearly see clear wrongdoing there and neither will a Texas judge or jury.

Wow, the ranking Officer also happens to be the rampaging aggressor. There was really nothing the other Officers could do except deal with the shit storm this dude created.. Its amazing, how crazy one idiot made a situation.

He’s also the same asshole who lost his flashlight doing that stupid roll like he thinks he’s in a movie. If you look at the video it’s just one cop. The one that’s likely been suspended, that did all this. He’s the one that ran in like Rambo, rounding up only the black kids. Even the ones standing talking to other cops. And he shoved that over girl in the chest or the face whatever.

And did anyone note that one of the kids who tried to help the girl and then ran after he pulled his gun was dragged back by the other two and appears to be spitting up blood? What did he do other than try to help the girl? He didn’t touch the officer and just ran? Why’s he now arrested? Why’s the girl arrested? Why is this man a police to begin with if this is how he approaches a situation?

This is exhausting as a black person to keep seeing the overreaction of cops and then have people talk about how the kids were the problem. How? None of the kids in the video were shown doing anything wrong, but yet they’re arrested.

When he pulled the gun on those two boys, the other two cops ran up quick and he looked like he was almost ready to clock one, before he realized who it was, then they ran after the boys for what? Running from a cop who pulled a gun on them for no reason?

I want to see the person that’s going to tell those two boys that they shouldn’t be afraid of cops.

What I find interesting is that for the most part it seems to be this one cop who is completely freaking out, the others seem relatively calm and seem to be dealing with the situation in a somewhat normal manner (not yelling at the kids, pinning them down, etc). In fact it kind of looks like one of the cops grabs the nutcase when he pulls the gun and stops him from doing something really stupid.

What scares me is how long the other cops allow this dude to rage before before half-heartedly getting him in check after he pulled a gun. I’m sure there are 5 good cops for 1 bad cop but if they don’t sit fucking psychos like this down before the gun comes out, they’re just as bad.

I can’t help but think that this is the real problem with the police today — you get a dozen professional and reasonable officers who can handle things just fine, but one hothead in the group turns the entire scene to shit.

The problem is not the hothead, that is inevitable. The problem is that those twelve other reasonable cops will do whatever it takes to cover for their asshole colleague, even though every single one of them knows that their jobs and lives would be easier if this particular colleague disappeared.

Meanwhile, the hothead gets even more cocky after being vindicated for this behavior, and next time it’s even worse, until finally somebody gets killed and we all ask why nobody tried to stop him before. Sigh.

This is abuse of power, police brutality, excessive force... all at once.

Can we talk about that sweet roll he did at the beginning, though? I was like "WHAT!?!"

Was it, indeed, the part where an officer pulls his weapon on two unarmed boys? Or was it the part where he drives his knee into a teenage girl’s back—a girl who, in fact, was apparently following his orders to leave the area when he changed his mind and decided to arrest her—and screams in her face?

This is what happens when you make GamerGaters police officers.

Racism in the US hasn’t changed much...it’s still white cops on non-whites...what’s different is that this new racist rage is about Nerd Rage.

These guys who shoot children with BB guns 2 seconds after arriving on scene, or the Ferguson cop, and even George Zimmerman...not all cases but many recent cases that seem to defy explanation can partially be explained because of thee Nerd Rage factor.

They weren’t badass “Dirty Harry” types who snapped or something...these guys are ***dorks*** who grew up playing first person shooters instead of doing their homework.

I really think this point is important to the discussion and the search for solutions. It’s the same male dominance behavior, just expressed via doughy wannabe dorks.

From the Buzzfeed News story linked above:

Teens at the pool party told BuzzFeed News the police were called after a fight broke out between adults and youths at the pool after the adults made racist comments telling the black children to leave the area and return to “Section 8 [public] housing.”

So ... there’s your explanation for how things go to this point in the first place. Not a big surprise, sadly.
