I’ll believe they saw professional counselors when I see the fucking recipts.

And yeah too young to be a child molester but old enough to pay for therapy is really something.

Amen. No one should ever refer to this as psychological counseling. By all accounts, it was just more of the same fucked up brainwashing and abuse that was done at home, but possibly more extreme.

      This.

“Professional” therapy? I wouldn’t bet on anything more than a jesus camp.

Wow, you guys are as enthusiastic about this Duggar interview as Kotaku is about E3 with all these posts. Probably getting more blow-by-blows here than a state of the union address.

Yes, because it’s fun to watch condescending moralists get theirs.

Clearly you’ve never watched them as they condescend to no one. Your impotent self-righteousness is cringey.

I’d get a refund if I were him, as it didn’t seem to take.

Was this counseling with the “licensed professional” (looooove how Jessa slid that in there) before or after Josh reoffended?

“He had to pay for his own”? So the family wasn’t going to? Almost makes it sound like it was some sort of punishment to make him pay for it, when it’s not a punishment, it’s something to help him. God, this family,

This happened prior to the show. Much has been made about how well off the Duggars are, but they were living in a small house for years. They lived a very hand to mouth existence until the show. People talk about Jim Bob’s businesses like he was some mini magnate, but they were lower middle class.

Even now, worth a few million (estimates say three to four million) with 19 kids, they don’t live as well as many middle class families with one or two kids. A few million is a nice amount for a family of four. Not much for the Duggars.

Even so, if I’m the parent of a kid who needs therapy, I don’t force them to scrounge up the cash for it, no matter what my financial status, you know?

Jill: We all went through professional counseling, but Josh did too. And, I mean, he had to pay for his own.

“He traded in two whole chickens and was doing chores at the counseling camp all week!”

If you look closely you can see the scripts are literally on their laps as they were on Jbob and Michelle’s laps too. Jbob even had his phone turned on and open, I wonder if he was getting live coaching too

Yes, Michelle said it too and it is a funny thing to be emphasizing. I’m all for making your children be financially responsible, but that is not really that important compared to their not molesting their siblings. It’s sort of like saying, “And Josh washed his hands after he molested his sisters.”

So this means that he had money (presumably from summer or after-“school” jobs). Do the girls have money from their work as full-time nannies/elementary school teachers/chefs/housekeepers?

(I know the answer is “no.” But man, if they did, at $7/hour x approximately 40,000 hours, Jana could get SO far away from there by now.)
