Jim Bob: Yeah, over the clothes. And so it was a very difficult situation. But as we’ve talked to other parents and different ones since then, a lot of families since said that they’ve had similar things happen in their families.

What families were they fucking talking to?! Are these the same families/people that sent in the emails? Just because it happens does not make it ok.

By Duggar standards, this actually basically is rape. According to Jim Bob you’ve gotta be married before you do what he did to his sisters. It was “Only for a few seconds”? I’d love to see Jim Bob’s reaction to such an excuse from a man *courting* one of his daughters.

I truly hope TLC does pay attention to the interview. Pick it apart. There is no way they could ever keep 19 kids and counting or spin offs on the air. Basically Jim Bob admitted that their religious movement is filled with teens molesting younger children. Victims go on to victimize.

Not that I think the girls would go on to victimize their children (but one never knows). However, I would be side-eying their husbands. I truly hope TLC isn’t stupid or greedy enough to continue showcasing the Duggars in any form.

I just want to say, I am a grown, sexually active woman. And a year ago or so a man I invited into my home, and was a little interested in, fondled me while I was sleeping. I woke up and was so out of it and surprised I didn’t know what to do. I thought at the time it was not a big deal- but the agency that you lose when something like that happens, the fact that someone you thought cared about you saw you, for a moment, as nothing but a body, it twisted me in a way I did not think such a “small” incident would. I have never confronted him, we worked together, but I will honestly carry the shame, guilt, and fear from it forever. I imagine the Duggar girls will too.

Sadly, I don’t think the Duggar girls realize how much of an invasion and betrayal this was. They’re too brainwashed and will defend their brother and molester.

I may never get this image out of my head. I love you Gabs, but I’m moaning right now. If you’re really quiet, you’ll hear it haunt your dreams when Denton finally unlocks the kinjanator to let you get some rest. It is a sound that may never die.

The denial and excuses made me physically ill. I say that as someone who was molested by an older child, was raised in fundamentalist Christianity, attended Gothard homeschooling seminars with my mom as a part of homeschooling growing up, and frankly, understands everything they say much more than I’d like to admit.

My parents were not Quiverfull, and I was molested (at 5, repeatedly) by a neighbor outside of Church, but the trauma of the abuse coupled with the shame that brainwashing, Patriarchal religion taught me has me in therapy and on meds for PTSD thirty years later.

      Physically ill.

P.S. Please, un-grey me. It is horrible, and I hate it.

“You’re not alone in a room with someone else. Always be out and visible.” You raise subservient daughters who will be subservient to their husbands and up to their ears in kids before they know it. Do these kids ever get to be teenagers? By definition, it seems not. And teaching your daughters, and sons, to protect themselves against perverts isn’t accomplished by more rules upon rules. It is teaching girls that they have the right to speak up and speak out. I’m sure that they all told their parents that they didn’t remember Josh touching them because in the way they are raised, they are supposed to be always cheerful and always happy and ALWAYS obedient. To admit that they were frightened, scared of their brother, and repulsed by his prodding and probing would be, in the way they are being raised, a slap in their parents’ faces because the way they are raised and educated tells them that their parents are all powerful. To admit that their brother did this would have to mean that it was somehow their, the girls’ fault. They are taught to block out everything that would be disapproved of by their parents. What is the best way to take the focus off yourself? Deny that you even remember anything happening.

They were raised to trust no one except their parents. And in a lesser way to trust their immediate family. It's a method to alienate and isolate and control. Adding siblings to the mix as being the untrustworthy (I'm not talking about Josh here), must have added to the utter loneliness that these girls have lived with.

It’s scary that marital rape seems to be completely condoned in their religion.

Condoned? Hell, it's basically encouraged. Women have to be available to their husbands!

Bill Cosby and his roofies approve of the "none of them were aware" and "they didn't know he did it" excuses.

Right!?!? So much of this feels like what crazy Cosby defenders also would/will say (since he himself looks bent on denying it to the grave). “Just over the clothes! Most of the time. It was more like just a fondling. Lessons were learned: only when asleep, for example.”

I’ve never been molested or sexually assaulted, but watching these assholes makes me feel physically repulsed.

I feel so sorry for victims of sexual abuse who saw these dickheads on TV tonight. Can’t imagine what it’s making them feel.

These people need to be off the air NOW. They don’t deserve any more airtime or publicity.

Agenda, very clear they mean those god damn sodomites. Hey Homosexuals this is your fault!!! Your homosexual AGENDA made poor lil Josh Duggar sexually assault his family members, that’s why you shouldn’t be allowed to get married!!!!!!! Gosh I hate this family, they are the worse. Seriously these people are making the Kardashians look smart/normal/rational.

I never understood why the Kardashians got more hate than this fucking family. Kardashians might be vapid, shallow, fame whores but as far as I know, they have never pushed their person beliefs into politics and actively work to limit basis human rights of those not exactly like them. Fuck the Duggars and fuck every person that ever said they’d rather watch this “wholesome” family on TV than the Kardashians.

‘duggary’ (duh-gher-ee) def’n - trying to rationalize a family member’s incest and sexual deviance with lame ass excuses. Rhymes with ‘buggery’

You know, I get why people are doing that, but it is probably less of a good idea that you’d think, since doing so could potentially hurt his victims as well.

We should still totally redefine Jim Bob, though (that came up in the thread about Jim Bob punishing one of the boys by tying his hands together)
