As I have said whenever Piyush Jindal’s name comes up:

We are really sorry for inflicting this guy on you. The 55% who voted for him in 2007 and the 66% who re-elected him in 2011 were probably not really aware what a massive fuck-up he was going to be and what a nightmare he’d be for the entire nation. We swear—we’re really, really sorry. Please don’t hate us.

I mean, c’mon, we aren’t Florida for fuck’s sake. We have Mardi Gras. And Southern Decadence.

    With love,
The Sane Parts of Louisiana (aka, all of Louisiana south of I-10)

P.S.: Yes, we realize that we’re home to those Duck Dynasty fuckers. But they live so far north they’re really part of Arkansas anyway.

Have you read the new history book on slavery, The Half Has Never Been Told, by Edward Baptist? Louisiana looks like the worst place on Earth after US independence up to the Civil War. And he hints at how that slavery legacy continues up to today in the South.

What’s shocking is that stupid historians had never told us this story, apparently, until only quite recently. I can’t believe that what Baptist tells us is supposed to be new.

Jindal has the unique distinction of being even less popular in his home state than crypto-Marxist-in-chief Barack Obama.

Ditto Wisconsin. Walker’s approval rating has recently slipped below Obama’s. The same may be the case with Jeb too.

This is a weird era of politics. It used to be that governors were considered promising presidential candidates because they could their states’ electoral votes to the table. Nowadays, that doesn’t seem to be part of the calculus for Republicans. They only seem to care about appealing to a tiny, fanatical national ‘base’.

I didn’t know that about Walker. I thought somehow he still polled well considering he was elected three fucking times. I hate that idiot. And Jeb was governor of Florida a while ago, I’m not sure what people’s opinions of him there matter at this point. Besides, Florida will probably vote for him anyway.

I just learned today he goes by “bobby” because he was about the same age as the brady bunch character. That is the least vague thing i know about this person.

He likely goes by Bobby because his birth name is Piyush Jindal and he is well aware how ‘foreign’ that sounds to his target audience.

After Jon Stewart leaves The Daily Show, who’s going to compile the hilarious cuts of all of these nightmares devouring one another. Carly Fiorina, Rick Perry, Mike Huckabee and Bobby Jindal in a debate? That’s comedy gold, with the added bonus that it will further expose the greedy, unethical frauds that are the GOP.

In a perfect world he would not be insane and would be on our side. The guy is smart as hell and would make an excellent progressive president. But since he’s a republican piece of dog doo-doo he shall remain “Bobby Jindal-Boy Governor” and nothing more.

Him. Naw. I don’t think these guys are capable of feeling/being shamed. He’s running for president after it came out that he went to the unluckiest college ever and had to force some demons out of some fellow students. Not that exorcisms are shameful acts, no sir. But I would much rather save my vote for Van Helsing, when it’s time to elect our first demon-catcher in chief.

I really would like to know what the GOP plan for 2016 is. I mean, this is a weak field even by already weak standards. Herman Cain would be a solid middle-of-the-pack in this race. Like, are Republican party strategists just going, “Oh, shit, shit, shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit,” or is there excitement about any of these candidates, or what?

The plan is to put the crazies out front, let them duel and pander to the extreme right, pull them slowly toward center so that they can drop Bush in as the moderate to clean up in the middle.

By then he will be the only republican, so the righties will vote for him (a few will toss their chips toward the Liberarian, Paul mebbe?) happily when faced with Hillary as an opponent.

Having choked the economy of Louisiana with the stroke of a pen last week - just to prove he’s the most homophobic of all the candidates - what was left for him to do?

What a hideous, soulless excuse for a man.

In New Orleans, we can’t stand him. He’s actually an intelligent, well educated Rhodes Scholar who CHOSE to turn his brain off so as to pander to the people who he thought most likely to elect him. And so far, it has worked. But that’s only because we have the most screwed up state politics in the country. On the national level, he’s a joke (as he should be).

Anyway, I’ll leave you with his portraits. This is who he imagines himself to be...

As a Louisiana native I mostly agree, but to be fair he rejected both of those paintings as an official portrait. But that is definitely what some stupid white conservatives (stupid because they can’t accept his Indian heritage) want him to look like.

We actually had high hopes for him after the Blanco Katrina fiasco, and I actually convinced my very conservative grandparents to vote for him even though they thought he was Arab.
