      The thing is, Colin Hanks, Tom’s son by his first wife, is a really good working actor. Looks like the talent ran out after him.

    I have to imagine that Tom, Rita and Colin love him, because I mean, he’s family and all. But they must be embarrassed to some extent. Thanksgiving must be filled with several instances of the three of them trading eye-rolls and knowing glances across the table every time he launches into a rant about how he knows what he wants and how he’s doing everything he can to get it.

    My only warm thought is the hope that one day, this asshat will become aware enough to realize just how awful it is when white people say shit like that and feels the appropriate amount of shame multiplied by how many years it took him to learn it and then go do something truly constructive out of all those sad feelings.

    The truly fucked thing about all of this is that, despite making himself look like a total ass-clown right now, this guy WILL accomplish some aspect of his dream, whatever that may be, as a result of his privileged birth and connected parents. The rest of us nose-to-the-grindstone types who don’t have these benefits will get whatever scraps the free market deems us worthy of, based on some formulation of our skill set and personal characteristics - race, gender, and appearance.
