      One of the reasons racism is so visible in America is economic inequality. That’s bad, but at least it’s harder to ignore racism when you see most of the homeless are poc and most of the people with yachts and mansions are white. When everyone is as poor as each other it’s easier to ignore.

        I totally think all Cubans should continue to be universally poor, and made to drive around in those old cars, pausing only to sit in doorways smoking huge cigars for tourists to photograph.

            I am cuban . I was born there and I’m mestizo. Half my family is black and half my family is very European white. I want to go ahead and call bs on the race thing you are implying . they have both had the same opportunities. There isn't special treatment for white people in Cuba , it's for turrists not white cubans. Anyone who comes from abroad has special treatment regardless of the race .

                I really wish that Cuba had had a chance to show how a truly socialist government could function on the national stage. Unfortunately, because of the embargo and sanctions against them that forced them to operate outside of the world economy rather than as part of it, we’ll never know.
