Trotter is becoming my favorite reporter, I think. Good work!

Sadly, the end result is confirmation (like we really needed any, but whatever) that Bill O’Reilly is an abusive asshole and rich prick who has way too much influence on politics in this country.

As a religious person, the fact that he attempted to get her fucking excommunicated is one of the meanest things I’ve ever heard. Except for the domestic assault, I guess. God, what an infected dick slit this guy is.

I also hope that whoever the jerk priest is who wrote that letter to McPhilmy will find himself quickly reassigned to a lovely parish in the far, far hinterlands of small-town North Dakota. Either that or scrubbing floors in some church-run shelter for abused women. Someone needs to slip a note to Pope Francis. (One of the things that I love about our parish priest was his angry sermon after one of the archbishops in the region started blabbing about excommunicating people for some reason or another - normally a really sweet, laid-back guy, he got positively militant, and told us if we knew anyone who was refused communion, he'd deliver it to them personally.)

trying to get a nearly 20 year marriage that produced children annulled was kind of impressive though. As a non-religious person, I could be wrong, but isn’t that essentially like trying to pull a fast one on Jesus? Isn’t lying to God kind of not ok?

O’Reilly’s lack of response is especially worth noting. The anchor has spent his highly remunerated career obsessing over patterns of violence among racial minorities, particularly black people, and the apparently unique effect of violence on the integrity of black families.

You’d think he’d also focus on Irish-Americans, considering that his behavior feeds the stereotype of the foul-tempered, belligerent Irishman.

As a foul tempered belligerent American of almost completely Irish descent I approve this message, and would only add alcoholism to the mix.

So, fuck this guy. More importantly: if your neck looks like a turkey scrotum don’t tie your tie so tightly! This dude also went to Chaminade which is notorious for producing giant douche vessels who are awful to see and speak to let alone live or work with.

OH man, I just went to their Wiki page and found that Glenn Hughs of the Village people went there too.

I was hoping that they over lapped in years but they’re 15 years apart. GOD DAMN IT.

The Chaminade in my city is equally bad, it must be a thing with the Marianists.

Don’t forget that O’Reilly thinks abuse victims sometimes enjoy their abuse (at about :28)

Excellent catch. And a neato way for O’Reilly to retain the moral high ground (in his own mind) while continuing to terrorize his family. “She enjoyed it, so I didn’t do anything wrong!” A rationale also popular among rapists—a sort of all-purpose schtick for the recreational abuse of women.

O’Reilly’s daughter claimed to have witnessed her father dragging McPhilmy down a staircase by her neck, apparently unaware that the daughter was watching

Shocking that the “Fuck it, we’ll do it live” man would be the kind of person to do that.

Those who are capable of those kinds of bursts of white-hot anger are not known for their great relationship skills.

Not that this is the case with O’Reilly, but dismissing abusive men as men with “anger issues” often misses the point. They are men with control issues. Namely, that they are perfect in control of themselves (their anger, their emotions) and seek to be in control of their partners. Generally speaking, abusive men are very calm and collected outside the home; they are adequate employees, respected in the community; they don’t have “white-hot” bursts of anger (love that terminology by the way). But in the home, they use ‘anger’ as an excuse to justify, and then minimize, the abuse. But it’s all bullshit.

I’m not trying to call you out here or start an argument, but I’m an attorney who specializes in domestic violence and I have attended extensive training on the dynamics of abusive relationships. Anger issues aren’t the point - which is why anger management doesn’t “cure” abusive men. Just a thought.

I guess the Bible doesn’t explicitly forbid a man from dragging his wife down the stairs by the neck. Good thing, too, or Bill might get a letter of admonishment.

If you want a scary look inside the mind of this fucked-up human being, I advise finding a copy of his book. Or just listening to a review of it.

Turns out the guy’s got some extremely detailed fantasies of murdering everyone who he ever worked with before Fox news!

Those Who Trespass. His work of detective fiction.

It features Not-Bill O’Reilly graphically murdering his way through the CBS people who never gave him the respect he deserved, as Police Detective Definitely Not Also Bill O’Reilly tries and fails to stop him. Also, you get a wonderful sense of just how very, very little Bill O’Reilly understands about how to give a woman an orgasm. It’s fantastic in that ‘jesus what the hell am I reading’ sort of way.
