I’m not sure how this in any way diminishes the fact that a man picked up a chair and smashed it into the head of another smaller man who was walking away from him.

It doesn’t, but it does complicate its status as a hate crime.

I thought it was not being investigated as a hate-crime to begin with. Perhaps I misread.

This is especially so when the other most vocal witness, Isaam Sharef, has already proven himself unreliable.

Why is he unreliable, because you think the video was taken from too far away?

He is unreliable because according to the Daily News report, he heard no anti-gay slurs, and according to the G List report, he did.

Sharef said he never hear gay slurs and doubts the incident was a hate crime.

I read this, combined with his recounting of what happened in the message above, as him saying that the word is only a slur if it’s used in a particular way. Under this reasoning, if it’s used by one gay man to another in response to “arrogance,” it’s not a gay slur.

So, which is it? Did the attacker not say “faggot” or did he say “faggot” in a way that Sharef felt was justified and not hateful?

Well in the meantime, it’s safe to say that smacking someone’s head with a chair is still a crime in New York.

Sometimes this shit is as simple as two alpha-male-acting guys being stupid as hell.

    Might be the case here?

That would require acknowledging that gay men can be “alpha-male-acting guys being stupid as hell,” which would complicate the narrative.

Yes. It might be the case.

But then one of the alpha males picked up a chair after the two were seperated, and then hit the other one over the head with it while his back was turned- a blow that could have been lethal/life-changing. Then he left the scene.

I can certainly believe this may not have been a hate crime, but I am so goddamn tired of people making excuses for needless violence.

Thank god for all the people we have spending their days going around beating the shit out of those who can’t “behave.” Imagine what a shit stain of a society we’d be without all these normative vigilante assaults!

“Waddie G.” seems sketchy as hell. Isaam Sharef is also looking rather sketchy. Making the sketchiness worse is “Waddie G.” bitching about how some people are sensationalizing this incident...while sensationalizing it himself.

I don’t know what happened that night. I do hope that a full and thorough investigation by that pinnacle of professionalism and integrity the NYPD will reveal who was truly at fault. I’m really hoping that the restaurant’s security footage will reveal some...whatcha call them? Oh, yeah: facts. This story could use some of them.

Breaking news: Everyone thinks that everything they do is justified. They will manipulate facts and invent falsehoods to justify their positions AND they will believe their own lies.

Pretty sure no one at Nuremberg said: “Fuck, I am guilty as shit of being a racist murderer.”
