I grew up with this crap. It makes me want to punch a preacher every time I hear it now.

Agreed. I grew up insanely Southern Baptist and get mildly nauseated when I realize 14-year-old me would have been like “Oh my gosh, he’s so right!”

      ...ugh, It’s embarrassing.

And I know that this nation would not exist had he not been the midwife of its birth.

They think God arranged for America to be created. It’s a common belief on the Right to think that America is the most religious country in the world, or at least most Christian, but our secular government is holding us back or oppressing us.

The scary thing is how many folks like Huckabee not only believe that the Rapture is coming, are looking forward to it, but are hoping it happens within their lifetime, and often are convinced it will happen within their lifetime, because they are Special.

The scarier thing is how there have been large contingents of religious believers like that in every single generation for two thousand years.

This guy has his finger exactly on the pulse of America. What we need is more Jesus in politics and American life in general. I - a non-Christian, non-believing, bound-for-hell secular Jew - sometimes can go 3 or 4 hours without hearing about Jesus and that just can’t be good for me or for the future of this great country that God and Jesus blessed above all other countries on this Earth or on any other planet that God created 6,000 years ago.

You know that the Grand Canyon gets mad as hell every time someone mentions that “6,000 years” thing. And let’s not get the dinosaurs riled up. I hate those little velociraptors.

I think that, unlike say Rush or Glenn Beck, he legitimately believes it. Just a vibe I get from him.

God created weed, but it’s a sin to smoke/vape/cook with it. When you figure out the mental gymnastics behind that, let me know.
