    You know, I take serious issue with the fact we are calling this idiotic. The jokes he wrote weren’t funny, and they were definitely antisemitic and weirdly misogynistic for literally no reason. It didn’t even improve the stupid, shitty jokes. Had he been, say, a Republican staffer who was making inappropriate comments and jokes about the First Daughters, we wouldn’t be saying it was idiotic, because it’s fucking not?

    Do I think Trevor Noah should be fired? No. Do I think his non-apology was disingenuous bullshit? Yes I fucking do. Do I think he deserves to be criticized for these remarks? Absofuckinglutely. I would have had a lot more respect for him if he had come out and said, “Look, they were jokes that I made off the cusp, they weren’t funny and they targeted marginalized people for literally zero reason, and that’s something that I am working on as I grow as a comedian and will continue to try and improve.” Instead, we got some bullshit fake apology about how he shouldn’t be held accountable for the shit he says, and we are eating it up like candy because he’s handsome and happens to also be mixed. Being a minority doesn’t make you exempt from criticism, it doesn’t mean you can’t also disenfranchise other minorities, and it certainly shouldn’t give you a pass from being held responsible for the shit that comes out of your mouth or off your keyboard.

      I find it pretty disappointing that this website, that is on every bandwagon to tar and feather every Republican who makes inappropriate tweets (NOT EVEN SAYING THEY ARE WRONG) is just like “ughhh gooood can’t you take a joke?”

      No. I can’t fucking take a joke where fat women and jewish women are the punchline for no other reason than you’re not very funny and you used a tired old trope that you knew would get cheap laughs. Sorry. Be better. Do better.

    Some of the shit he said on Twitter was genuinely awful, and it wasn’t “idiotic” to be off-put by it. That one about fat chicks? It wasn’t even a joke... it was just pointing and laughing at fat women. It wasn’t trying to be clever or witty or anything: it was just fucking mean.

      That one was the one the bothered me the most as well. I know some people are shouting ANTI-SEMITISM but given that his Mother is half Jewish I took those more as a bad attempt at self-deprecating humor.

      To be fair, that tweet is from October 2011. That is 3 and a half years ago! People deserve the benefit of the doubt if you have to go DIGGING through someone’s twitter account for a bad joke that is over 3 years old.

      Should it be addressed why this line of thinking is wrong? Absolutely. But do I think he deserved the amount of criticism he got? Not really.

      ETA: I dont think Patricia Arquette deserved the amount of hate she got either. I think Rancic deserved to be called out but she didnt deserve death threats and I think her apology was excellent.

    I read the old Twitter jokes and they were... disappointing. But people can grow and change and it sounds like he’s moved on from that kind of “comedy.” I wish him well in his new tenure on the Daily Show. He’s got some very, very large shoes to fill.

Meanwhile, they are fans and friends of people like Lena Dunham, Tina Fey, and Amy Schumer. Quite a few of them also stan for Bill Burr and Patton Oswalt. But, Trevor is the problem. LOL alright.

      I wouldn’t say that there would be NO controversy, but the white dudes who went digging up Noah’s tweets wouldn’t be as venomous. And, to be clear, I don’t have a problem with people calling him out. The problems arise when the outrage seems disproportionate, which it does. White people are so angry, ya dig.
