No shit. If I was rich like them, my waste would be expanding in the opposite direction, and I certainly wouldn't be seeking attention and approval on social media with selfies and gym statuses. Hell I'm not rich, and I still don't do any of that shit. Who are they trying to impress I feel so bad for them

Do these! They turned my white girl pancake ass into a nice lil bump. Squeeze your butt muscles to push the kettlebell forward on the upswing...

It's pretty common in many cultures for women who have just given birth to wrap their midsections and compress everything while their bodies work on getting back to normal non-pregnant mode. I think Jessica Alba talked about doing it and the celeb press acted like she had invented a brand new concept.

Yep. I live in latino south florida and there are stores everywhere that sell fajas, which are actual medical-grade garments meant for people recovering from surgery. They are a really big deal, even men wear them.

Yeah, my Colombian grandmother is always telling me that I should buy some fajas to make my small belly less noticeable. I'm always like "uh, no, but thanks for the self-esteem boost..." -_-

HamNo, being a guy, you do not have as much subcutaneous fat as a woman does. Even women who work out a hell of a lot and are super healthy are going to have more body fat than a guy who does the same. If we get super cut, we lose our tits and more of our hips and asses than we want to (and sometimes our periods).

When I was a bike messenger riding 8 hours a day and lifting free weights on my lunch hour, I still had enough body fat that I had a faint declivity on my thighs where the bottom edge of my bike shorts compressed them. If we abandon proper trousers with waistbands in favor of stretchy ones, we'll often notice a small change in our waistline that has nothing to do with weight gain.

Corsets do not have to be tight enough to shift your internal organs and inhibit your breathing in order to compress and redistribute the fat around your waist a little bit. Just wearing them snugly enough to make you sit and stand up really straight for a couple of hours every day can make significantly increase your waist to hip ratio.

Which, interestingly enough, is one of the few things that is a near-universal hallmark of beauty, along with symmetry.

That's interesting. Have you tried this? I thought when you took the corset off your waist just reverted back to it's original size.

Nope. Of course it isn't permanent. If you stop doing it, after a while it'll shift again.

I haven't done it myself, but I know women who have, and I've experienced milder versions of it, like the one I described above. Considering how low the bodyfat on my thighs was relative was to one's waist, and how loose the bottom band of my bike shorts was relative to even loosely worn corsets, that there was any declivity at all was pretty impressive. After I stopped riding it took a few months to completely disappear.

You can "train" your body to wear smaller and smaller corsets - a matter of slowly shifting your internal organs above or below your waistline and compressing your rib cage. But it's not something I would call particularly healthy (though some women with back problems claim a corset helps).

Why not do crunches or planks? Because they don't want a strong, muscular core, but an unnaturally tiny one. Why not get lipo? Because they want to be able to claim they haven't gotten any cosmetic surgeries to achieve their body shape. It's all incredibly backwards and fucked up.

It's beyond that. Since the corset's doing all the work keeping you straight and tucked, you're not using your abdominals to maintain your form. So you're preventing that area from getting a proper workout, you're not breathing properly, and you're not learning how to achieve and maintain proper form without assistance.

I don't use one, but I've looked into it because I love the look of corsets. All the companies that I looked into have the same instructions, where the corset but exercise while wearing it to strengthen the core muscles. To me it didn't sound worth it but for them to work properly you do need to work out, while in the corset otherwise you will have a lot of issues with your abdominal muscles when it comes off.
