I've noticed throughout this whole thing that he seems pretty shitty. Both in terms of his personal character and his abilities at governing.

That sound you just heard is his hopes of being a 2016 GOP Presidential candidate imploding. Badly.

Pence says, though, that he's directed state lawmakers to draft a "follow-up" measure, one that "makes it clear that this law does not give businesses a right to deny services to anyone."

I love Curt Smith trying to peek over the back. Like, "Hey guys! Let me in on the photo-op to show this millennium's anti-Civil Rights leaders!"

The Eric Miller guy is pulling "I just did something evil as fuck and there's nothing you can do about it" villain face. So that basically confirms for me that no, they don't actually believe in this crazy nonsense they say they do, they just enjoy being horrible, evil human garbage because they can.

And Arkansas is about to sign into law one that is nearly the same. This whole ordeal makes me feel ill, and I despair that there are people out there who actually believe in this load of shit.

People are people. Be the true Christian you claim to be and treat them with respect.

WHAT IS SO DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND?

That whole thing. When a branch of a religion uses "being separate and unique" from the rest of the world as one of its defining characteristics, the idea of respecting others that don't fit their mold is exceedingly difficult.

It passed in Arkansas, now on to the governor's desk. However, ND is now considering an anti-discrimination bill (for the 3rd time, but still).

I have never seen that picture of the giving hanging tree, and I honestly have no idea how I lived this long without it. Thank you, Klaus, for bringing to my attention. You are truly doing the lord's work.

Don't kid yourselves. This law wasn't actually intended solely (note those italics) to target gays and lesbians. Did you see the signing photos with the nice nuns? Women are going to be targeted too, and language about "denying service" isn't necessarily going to help us. Are you unmarried and having a baby? Aw, shucks! Continuing to employ you will burden our sincerely held religious beliefs! Living in sin? Using birth control? Use your imagination. There are limits that Federal law will impose but all those things that a only an employer who is a "religious entity" could get away with, now a secular employer probably can do, too.

But women are a protected class in Indiana. You can't legally discriminate against women; you can legally discriminate against gay and trans people.

you can't legally discriminate for BEING a woman, but you you can discriminate for what things only people with vaginas can do, like birthing babies out of wedlock, using birth control, and getting an abortion.

I have been shouting this at my tv all week. Seeing people out protesting this thing after it's been signed into law is all well and good, but remember this shit before you let Republicans have a majority in your state, this is what they do! People who use the whole "well, both parties are the same" excuse for not voting are ridiculous, tell me when Democrats passed a law like this.

In case you're wondering why a bill that Mike Pence claims to be so proud of was signed in a closed session and Mike Pence wouldn't identify the people in the room with him, GLAAD has an answer:

I've been very pleasantly surprised by the national backlash against this horrendous law. I just wish there was this much of a rallying cry when it comes to women's reproductive rights. I mean, look at that Indiana woman who was just sentenced to 30 years after having a miscarriage. That should terrify everyone!

Well the thing is, LGBT organizations at least have males on our side. (Not, you know, real males. But closer than females at least. Hey, many of them are even white!) So it makes sense that this is the issue that gets listened to. *Eyeroll.*
