Sigh. Guess it's time to break the glass on this one. Because I believe there's a fire.

The political establishment, banks, industry, and Fox News would FREAK THE FUCK OUT if she won the nomination and election. I'd love to see the chaos.

Warren is exactly the person the GOP wants to win that nomination.

I thought her campaign was in trouble just over the email nonsense (as in, why would she have ever done that?!) but this is the sort of thing that will just dog her through the campaign. She's too vetted. I guarantee that the GOP has a library of crap that she's done (from small infractions to actual stupid things) that they're just waiting to dribble out over the course of the next 16 months.

I'm not sure who could fill in as a viable Democratic candidate, though. Warren? Maybe. But she may be a little too left for the general election (though people might actually enjoy voting for someone with opinions). Cuomo? Ehhh.... He's in enough trouble with the teacher's in NYS right now.... but that could be a plus come November.

I shudder at the thought of two simultaneous 12 person primaries.... thought it would make for great conventions!

Oh god stop with this vetted nonsense. You need to stop eating everything you're fed. As this clearly shows she's been up to her old tricks, and nothing of that has been "vetted".

I don't think I'm eating up everything I've been fed. I think she comes with a lot of baggage before her recent issues.

I think she fucked up with the email server and it is likely that there is a email out there from that address that is official business that doesn't match what she gave over. Then it drags the whole party down with her.

I'm a supporter of hers and I'm still bothered by it.

I know everything in politics is meticulously managed, but a backdoor advisor just seems excessively anal.

Say what you will about Clinton but this is not her first rodeo and she's an attorney by trade. No way in hell would she do something so blatantly illegal but it's cute GOP operatives are trying to get this scandal to stick.

      Hahaha. You're funny.

SHE wont' be seen to be doing it. That's the point - she's using the gravitas, connections and reputations of career civil servants and seasoned D.C. attorneys. Desperate hangers-on who hinge their post-gov careers on the relationships with politicos. Also known as - half of Washington.

Hillary is not a practicing, experienced attorney who knows her way around Washington, as people try to give her credit. She has about 6 years of real work experience, then after nearly 20 yrs as a figure-head spouse, held elected and appointed positions created by the party. Experienced, capable worker bee, she is not. Symbiotically connected, she is.

Yeah, blaming all of your felonies on your subordinates worked great for Reagan! Hillary is just doing what comes naturally for a Reagan Democrat!

I know we all want Hillary to run because she can probably beat any GOP candidate in a general election, but she's a corporatist through and through. She's in bed with Wallstreet and she's a war hawk. She's not a liberal at all and I really wish/hope the left can find a realistic alternative.

I hope so too. The last thing the Democrats need in 2016 is a candidate that no-one is enthusiastic about but that everyone thinks is an inevitability anyway. Doubly so when her only positive attribute is 'she'd be less bad than a Republican'.

Contact the career employees in the FARA office itself, not a political appointee at DOJ.

Yeah, that was a particularly weird effort at some "gotcha" journalism— contacting a political appointee several steps removed from the office in question and who is about to join the Clinton campaign instead of contacting the FARA office. "Let's see if we can embarrass this person instead of getting actual relevant information."

Yep. Hillary will be the nominee, no matter what Democrats want. The base will stay home and the moderates will be turned off by the scandals. Boom. President Jeb Bush.

Or Clinton could just be satisfied with being a mediocre Secretary of State as her political gold watch and nominate someone who could actually win in 2016.

Nah, the Clintons are too entitled for that. They're a dynasty, dontchaknow?!

This post prompts a question. As I read it, the gist is that Blumenthal and Kornblum attempted to "short-circuit the normal legal process" or they tried to use a "legal-loophole-laundering dynamic" and it's based on emails illegally obtained from a hack.

I know there is some line of "public good" somewhere, but I'm not sure where that lies. If a vigilant group were to hack into a dispensary's database and found that they were selling to unregistered patients, would Gawker publish the data? What if a murderer confessed in a diary they kept on the cloud and though the cops suspected them, they never could find enough for a warrant, could they hack the info and anonymously post it to a messageboard or send it to blog?

I don't know how to define it and maybe in response to this posts isn't the right moment, but as hacks have been used in and causing more and more investigations, I believe it's a discussion we need to have. Where is the line?
