It's "some dude," which is even better than "some guy."

I think Kathy did the right thing in quitting and personally, I'd be glad to see Fashion Police go, but on the inside, I'm having a really hard time imagining no one walked her through the process of writing/filming the episodes before she signed on the dotted line. It's ... starting to seem more like Kathy's gunning to create Kathy Griffin: My Life on the B-List.

P.S. Kathy, Everyone should've winged it? Everyone? Please don't tell me you think letting Rancic go unscripted is ever a good idea.

If there is anything red carpet pre-shows have taught us: Never let Rancic loose without a script.

I'm willing to bet they made promises to her ('Sure, you can improv! You can write your own stuff! That's why we want you!") to get her to commit. It happens all the time when trying to hire creative talent. Bait-and-switch.

I read yesterday that the Kelly Osbourne camp was upset that Osbourne wasn't getting the same kudos as Griffith for leaving the show.

I think this is because Osbourne framed the Fashion Police as a problem for her friend (Zendaya), whereas Griffith says the show is a problem for women generally, including Zendaya.

I think Kelly's departure also felt insincere because she'd been listening to Joan do the same thing for years. I mean Giuliana was the one who finally got called out for it, but that Zendaya joke was nowhere near the most racist or mean-spirited I've ever heard on the show. That just happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back and it was clear (to me, at least) that Kelly left because she saw the writing on the wall and knew that Joan's legacy wasn't going to protect them from being called out anymore.

And Kelly worked on that show for *years* and had plenty of other opportunities to walk off if she'd really found the material questionable.

I have always liked Griffin's stand up specials, but even I threw a side eye at And after awhile, I kind of felt like I was being forced to comment on pictures of beautiful women in perfect dresses, and say kind of bad things. [...] As a feminist and a comic, it just didn't feel like the right fit for me.

I think the difference is that KG is VERY specific and very much in control of who & what she will pick at whereas on Fashion Police, they wanted her to be mean pretty indiscriminately.

    1. Wasn't there unedited audio where you can hear K.G. reminding J.R. to say, "and weed?"

    2. Unscripted = People actually have to think of insightful and witty things to say off-the-cuff = Not gonna happen

Yes! Why is no one talking about the fact that Kathy is the one that added the "and weed" comment on air? Her hands are not clean here.

Don't get me wrong, I like Kathy Griffin but it's pretty disingenuous for her to pretend she didn't say anything and it's all Guiliana and the writers.

I stopped watching Fashion Police years ago because it was so obvious that the fashion critiques were written and they were painfully unfunny, like almost to the point of corny vaudeville-level punchlines. Kelly, Guiliana and the panel almost seemed embarrassed to laugh along, but it was like they had Stockholm Syndrome. Or they were email per laugh or groan. Long story short, this show is shit. I wish someone would just cancel it already.

Kathy throws shade at herself (is that even possible?), which is the primary reason I still find her funny. She knows who she is.

Well, everything makes so much more sense now. No wonder Joan Rivers needed them to come up with 200 jokes. Clearly, patchouli oil joke was number 100.
