Vladimir Putin expressed his deep condolences to the relatives and loved ones of Boris Nemtsov, who died tragically.

Mr. Putin added he was certain Mr. Nemtsov's death was likely to result in fewer such tragic deaths in the future, as long as everyone else got the message.

"The president noted that this cruel murder has all the signs of a contract killing and carries an exclusively provocative character." I'll bet he did!

Putin can't even help himself. Not understanding his phrasing is simply awkward but incriminating.

Following the premise that flattery gets you everywhere, residents of the Russian town of Krasnokamsk have embarked on an innovative scheme to improve their environment: starting a petition to rename the town Putin.

It's pretty hilarious how the propagandists at RT are trying pretty much any of these angles to spin it away from Putin, within the span of 30 minutes even.

URGENT: Nemtsov shot himself 4 times in the back in craven plot to slander Putin.

        Occam's Razor.

Putin clearly has cut Nemtsov down with it.

Though a prominent leader of the opposition, Nemtsov did not present a serious threat to the Russian government. However, Khordorkovsky, the exiled former Yukos, oil Oligarch endorsed the March protest, Nemptsov was to lead. Well funded from outside Russia, and not by a foreign government, Nemtsov could become a problem. Khodorkovsky recently won a $50 Billion legal victory against Russia although collecting is not going to be easy.

"Those who served Putin wouldn't want to create this precent" Really! I don't see any end game thinking by Putin or his supporters. Nemtsov is just the latest opposition figure to be interfered with by the government of Russia.

There is none. The recent Frontline on Putin made the point that he's doing everything he can to extend his stay in power because he's concerned about what will happen if he leaves. Now, he's already ticketed to stay through about 2024 under the current laws - I can only imagine that when the time comes, there will be some sort of war or other security crisis that will "force" him to stay in control. He's clearly confident that he can't be touched as long as he holds power, and so his only fear is having to cede it, which he won't.

"the investigative committee's statement also referred to the possibility that Islamic extremists were responsible for the killing"

Of course this is a possibility but it seems like the Russian version of "some black guys did it"
