A while back (between 2012 and 2014 depending on the source) she went with her now ex boyfriend as he returned his cats. They were not her cats. She has since broken up with him. She got her own kittens this year.

Further: Gossip got out that she was a monster who returned cats to trade in for kittens. When she went with her then boyfriend, she had been given the wrong information on how to return his cats and got upset. This was spun into a diva tirade.

So she didn't abandon them in a taped up box, but she did exchange two cats in less-than-optimal condition for some cuter kittens? Is that what I'm supposed to get from this?

Because in that case, fuck her. Better than abandoning cats in a closed container, but still fucked up.

Yea.. She and the ex broke up, so she took him to dump the cats they had for years, and picked up two fresh kitties. Sounds legit.

Why is she angry at electrons? Did someone accuse her of smelling bad? I don't know what to do with the random hashtags.

I'm assuming that back in Chemistry she found out that electrons have a negative charge, and thus came to the conclusion that electrons are negative pieces of shit, and she doesn't need them in her life.

meh, i mean, most rescue organizations I know make you sign a thing that says if you for some reason stop being able to care for your animals, to return them to the organization rather than find them a new home yourself/give them to a friend/put them on craigslist, etc. so, minus the cardboard box being suboptimal, taking them back was likey what they (or the partner I guess?) were instructed to do...

It does sound like some hysteria, but her camp clearly needs to make a statement and clear some shit up. People like animals, A LOT. Especially people on the internet. They fucking love cats.

It's possible that the group the cats were relinquished to probably either a) Didn't have space in their shelter for the two cats suddenly dropped off, or b) doesn't actually have a proper shelter space (besides display cages), and couldn't accept a spur of the moment return.

A lot of rescue groups don't actually have "shelter space" and can accept walk ins in the way that say, animal care and control can - most rely on foster homes to provide shelter and care for animals while they wait to be adopted, or brought to a place where they can be seen by the public.

PSA: Always call ahead and find out the shelter's policies on returns and/or intake procedures - it's not fun having someone get angry with you because you literally can not take the cat/dog/etc that they're trying to hand you.

This is sort of irrelevant but... adopt adult cats. There are always homes for kittens, but adult cats have a harder time finding homes. And when you adopt an adult, you actually know what their personality is going to be because it has developed, so you can make sure to get a cat that actually fits in with your life.

Also I work at a cat shelter and people do way more insane things than this with animals. Once we had someone return a cat because she was "meowing too much". Like, I'm sorry, maybe you should have gotten a goldfish instead?

My mom is extremely involved with her local shelter and fosters animals all the time. She had a kitten recently that had a broken leg. It had been adopted with its brother previously. The people who adopted it said it fell from the stairs. They took it to the vet, had the leg set and got the meds, and then RETURNED both kittens to the shelter! I'm glad they did the medical stuff for it, but it's so weird to me. Lucky for the kitty my dad fell in love with him and now it's the third permanent cat in the house, heh.

I would suspect that what actually happened is that the kitten was injured by something in the home. In that case, if they got the cat's leg fixed but realized the house was too unsafe for kittens, I wouldn't side-eye them too much, because at least they're doing the best thing.

Idk, you could also take it like she supported her ex in returning cats they could no longer provide for to the rescue org, and got a tad emo/shirty when the docent at the rescue gave them conflicting info.

Just playing Devil's Advocate here, we don't know how shitty that break up was.

2 yrs later apparently she gets kittens from a rescue again (?) and is accused of being a dirty cat ageist or something. On the last iteration of this story some commenter said they'd "called her out for this" on twitter, then got blocked like it proved her guilt. It sort of just prived she didn't like being insulted% accused via twitter. I'm gonna just wait for more info before I decide I love or hate her based on her pet-parenting. :)

I recently discovered that transporting my cats in boxes so SO much easier than the carriers. They HATE their carriers, but love boxes. It's a no brainer. They see a carrier and it's WW3 to get them in it, and there's bleeding and stress and crying. But the box...in they hop, on goes the lid, and everyone's happy.

And I realize that this is not the point of the story. She's garbage.

What about the story makes her garbage? Her boyfriend returned two adult cats to the adoption agency (which is generally what you're supposed to do if you decide not to keep them). Several years later she adopted new kittens.

A way to make carriers easier is to always keep one out and open as part of the room furniture. All my cats have treated it as a box or happy hidey hole. Its much easier to get them into it for vet visits, and when they are at the vet, they treat it like their comfort shelter between getting poked and prodded. When I had smaller cats, I'd step-stack the medium and smaller carrier on top of the bigger dog sized one (for my bearcat) in the corner of the room supported by other furniture so it wouldn't tumble down. and that was added fun for them. They would play double and triple decker pokey peekaboo.

None of them liked vet visits, but all liked their carriers.
