I'm assuming it's the attempted bribery that makes it bad? Or the request in and of itself?

article says "he's fighting another woman in court for custody of his toddler daughter"

he is fighting for custody, yet also asked her to abort and bribed her...

maybe a case against him as a committed and 'fit parent'?

That is what i am trying to figure out. Why is him requesting she have an abortion a bad thing? He didn't want to have a kid with her no, but why is it wrong?

According to TMZ, Tamika Fuller (pictured above on the far right) says the rapper-cum-actor initially wanted her to abort their daughter Cai Bridges when she told him she was pregnant. Fuller says he "offered her $10,000 and a house if she lost the baby."

Whoa. Here's hoping none of that story is true.

Wait. Why? What's wrong with that? I don't want kids and if I were a dude who knocked someone up, I'd do my best to convince the woman to get an abortion. I mean, I'd understand your outrage if he like, held her down and forced her to get an abortion or something. . . but saying, "Hey, I really don't think this is the right time. I know it's hard and I'm willing to help take care of you for a bit because this is hard" isn't some vile thing.

And even if he did want the child to be aborted, the fact is that a child now exists and he has as much of a right to that child as anybody else. I'm as prochoice as they come, so let's not pretend that entertaining the idea of abortion makes you a shitty parent.

So far this just what the baby momma claims. It could be true but it might not be.

Right. I suppose my point is that even if we take her word 100%. . . I'm not seeing anything that lends any credence to her side of things.

He didn't want "her to abort their daughter Cai Bridges." He wanted her to abort an embryo or fetus which was not sentient and was legally nameless.

That said, I'm not sure anyone should be involved in private medical decisions other than the patient and her physician.

Yes, thank you! We need to be precise about our language when we discuss abortion, because this kind of fuzziness is exactly the tactic pro-lifers use to obfuscate the real issues. A fetus is not a toddler, medically or legally.

I think that the father of the embryo has a right to have opinions about whether he wants to become a father or not, even though the mother obviously gets veto power either way.

I have no problem with a man bribing a woman to have an abortion. He didn't want to be a dad. He asked her to have an abortion. He provided an incentive, because he realized he really, REALLY, REALLY didn't want to be a dad. She decided she wanted to be a mom, and tough cookies to him. Now that the child exists and is a part of the real and material world, and his opinions and ideas about fatherhood have changed. He has decided he would like to be very directly involved in the child's life and would like to seek custody.

Like. This is how it should work? The man can state his opinion and explain his reasoning and even provide incentives, but it is obviously up to the woman to eventually decide what she would like to do. But as long as he's not pressuring her through violence, emotional/physical/mental abuse, I think a man should be able to make whatever case he needs to in order to have his wants considered. He's obviously isn't the one who has to gestate and deliver the child, or go through the hoops in order to obtain an abortion, so let me make it very clear it should 100% be the woman's decision in the end because of these determining factors.

But like. A house is less than a baby. Babies are expensive.

He didn't want to be a dad.

It could be even worst than that. He could not want to have a baby with her. She could be taking that part really hard. There are women in the world that I 100% would not want to get pregnant.

I'm with you on this. They're allowed to have a conversation about what she will do in re: the pregnancy, and if that conversation includes mention of possible benefits he could provide if she didn't have the baby, then that's what it includes.

Not only that, but people change their minds. Some women who considered abortion during their pregnancies and either decided against one or were unable to get one can end up very much loving their children. I'm not saying that this means that women shouldn't have the choice, but just because Ludacris once wanted her to have an abortion doesn't mean he can't love the child.

      This story needs some follow-up:

      1. Has he ever espoused anti-choice sentiment?
      2. Did he also attempt to physically force her to have an abortion?

I mean, even if he said anti-choice things before, he's still allowed to father his kid. There's no "DON'T BE A HYPOCRITE" clause in custody law.

I know I'm going to hear it, but here goes: Why is it wrong to ask your girlfriend to have an abortion? I mean, it's another thing to force her to have an abortion, but he just asked politely (my guess, I don't know) then sweetened the pot, she clearly said no and there's that.

I totally get him "sweetening the pot," too. Whether it was her intention or not, she was basically guaranteed being taken care of for quite a while the moment she found out she was pregnant by him. Him offering her the house etc almost evens it out, so she wouldn't have to choose between a baby and a nice life being taken care of, or no baby and whatever level of life she had before.

The Miller case was the FIRST thing I thought about when I read this.

I have many thoughts and feelings, but for the moment: I hope they can figure out a way to deal with this amicably, for the sake of the kid caught in the middle.
