    If he committed this atrocity on his own innocent, helpless infant, life in prison is nowhere sufficient. How about swift and deserved justice in the form of a quickly enacted death penalty, just this once. If that's ever been warranted, surely this is the time.

Find a place to put these posts so that those of us who don't want to have to be confronted with stuff this awful on the regular don't have it forced on us. Seriously. Put it with the awful stories of animal cruelty. When there literally is nothing we can do with this information, are you really helping anything by highlighting it?

      I agree. Now that there are all of the new sub-categories or whatever of Jezebel and Gawker, there should be one just for horrible stories or something. Or have some kind of title that notifies us that we shouldn't read the article unless we're prepared for disturbing content. I come to Jezebel to learn but it's also frequently something I look at for fun and to relax. After a long day at a stressful, emotionally-taxing job, it's incredibly distressing to come across the kind of content when I'm just trying to read something interesting about feminism or look at dresses from an awards show.

      Agreed. I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight. And like you said, there is nothing we can do with this. There's no way to save this child. There's nothing I could ever do to ease the mother's pain. And I feel even more disturbed by the fact that we'll all read this, feel shocked, generate clicks for Jezebel (why did I click this anyway?), and then move on to the next thing and forget all about this child and her mother and their pain.

      Right? Also the people who are involved in investigating. I mean, I know you expect to deal with the worst of the worst when you deal with criminals, but I really feel for the people who have to know all of the exacting details of a crime like this. How do you they sleep at night knowing what this man did, intimately? I would probably have to highly medicate myself. Shit, I needed to medicate myself just after reading the headline.

    The poor mother. She lost her child and found out her husband is a sick piece of shit. I can't even imagine the nightmare she's going through. And as for this motherfucker, I hope his nightmares are just beginning.

    There is a line, man. People can explain away a lot of messed up shit, try to rationalize some sick behavior, but there is a fucking line and it says do not cross this, not ever. Well, you crossed it, buddy.

      I think I watched a documentary about this, or another incident. They didn't show the infant herself thank God or describe her injuries in graphic detail, but there was a shot of two people who had been operating on her at the hospital sitting on the floor in a hall outside the operating theatre crying.

    This is just so incredibly sad. Between this and the article the other day about the (other) man who murdered his girlfriend's child, I sometimes wish these articles didn't have the descriptive headline. The headline should just read, "Super fucked up article about some terrible shit you don't want to know about" — then I can choose to click and read or not.

    You can't un-know this shit after you read the headline, though. I always read the article and end up hating humanity even more, just when I thought I've reached maximum hate. I know you can't stick your head in sand, but on the other hand, there is just so much fuckedupedness you can handle at one time.

    I got my first child sexual abuse case today. I've been very depressed about it all day. And then I get home and read this. I can't even. I'm just glad I'm not at the branch handling this case because it's literally the worst thing I've ever heard.
