Dude must make so much money by being one of the few not-ugly-as-shit male performers. Kudos to this guy.

Almost all the guys there were good-looking, if not beautiful. Now that more women and couples are watching porn on the Internet, there's more call for attractive male performers. Look up Ryan Driller, Tyler Nixon and Seth Gamble.

Tommy Pistol referred to them as "male goddesses." I don't know if that was a slip or intentional, though.

One seriously irritating thing is that, even IF you can find a porn movie with a beautiful man, they almost never say his name so you can't search for more stuff with him. The name of the actress is easy to find, sometimes it's even in the title, but usually the name of the guy is nowhere to be seen.

There was a super hot guy in a movie I saw, but his name may as well be a FBI secret :(

Mark, you're misusing the term "gonzo." It's a style of filming, it's not necessarily tied to any particular content, like choking, etc.

As Wikipedia says: "The name is a reference to gonzo journalism, in which the reporter is part of the event taking place. By comparison, gonzo pornography puts the camera right into the action, often with one or more of the participants both filming and performing sexual acts, without the usual separation between camera and performers seen in conventional porn and cinema.[1]"

That's what Wikipedia says, but that's not how it was used at the AEE. When I asked about it (and also look at the Jameson and Pierce quotes) it was presented as just incredibly hardcore content. And when I asked about the filming and putting the person right in the action in terms of giving them the camera that wasn't something that people associated gonzo with.

"Double penetration, black men, gagging on dick"

Black men is always a big topic in just about everything, huh? I guess it is for people hung up on that sort of thing. Gotta admit racism is starting to get a little old now. This fear of black dick is just a tad obnoxious at this point.

Straight white dudes fear the black guys. I've seen all kinds of dicks so I don't get it, there's not an anaconda lurking in every black man's pants just like there's not a turtle dick in every Asian's pants (all dicks are reptilian or terrapin in nature, btw), but guys think that if a woman sleeps with a black man it MUST be because he has a huge dong. Therefore, she is impossible to please after. It's sexist, racist, and all around terrible logic, but I have come across this complex repeatedly with white men.

Yeah. It sickens me that somehow "black men" is a crazy taboo fetish...should I ask my friend if she likes double penetration since obviously she is way " out there" in terms of having sex with her black husband? Yeah, they just had their second kid and are trying to pay down their mortgage, but their life must be a 24/7 porno. This is enraging.

With gonzo, do they rehearse scenes and try things off camera, or do they try new things for the first time with cameras rolling and the whole crew there? What kind of sex does a porn star couple have when the cameras are off? Is it a mindfuck to have sex in private with someone you really love and get that connection you can get when you have loving, intimate sex with a person you know and love, and then shoot gonzo porn the next day on a porn set? What if you accidentally have a husband and wife-moment at work?

Le said they never argue on set and of she has any issue with Wood during filming she tells him after the scene (same if they're fighting about other things). They told me they love working together.

In terms of sex, from what I remember, there's not as much at home for people who do porn on average. The interviewer before me was trying to coax them into agreeing they have lots and lots of sex, but they were like "it's our job."

One more thing! Sex on camera and off is very different so that is also an important consideration. Actual sex isn't concerned with camera angles and best shots so it's more about actual enjoyment.

What kind of sex does a porn star couple have when the cameras are off?

From interviews with other porn couples I've read, it's pretty much across the board: some say their on-screen persona is exactly what they're like at home, others say they're straight vanilla, others have things they do at home they won't/can't do on camera.

Mark - there are a number of sexual assault allegations against James Deen, but many performers are hesitant to speak up for fear of repercussions (law suites, loss of work, etc.). Were you familiar with these allegations when you opted to interview him?

Personally, I like porn, but I have standards for the type I will watch. I.e. no rape in the name, no teacher student, no familial relations (and mostly James Deen tbh because I have a huge awkward crush on him.). Porn actually (oddly) helped me on my loving my own body journey because I used to think my vag was super ugly (and possibly abnormal?) when I was 15 or so and not very acquainted with my downstairs mixup. In porn I saw body parts that resembled my body parts and it actually made me more comfortable with myself in ways. Of course there are still things that make it problematic and still scenes that make me extremely uncomfortable but there is definitely porn out there that is pleasurable enough to watch without feeling like I'm giving up my feminist card.

Agree 100%. The porn I choose to watch is presented as a consensual, sensual, positive experience. No choking or shaming or gagging or what have you. I don't feel bad about watching that stuff....but I do feel sick to my stomach when they advertise the sick stuff on a sidebar next to the video I'm watching.

and yes, James Deen is so damn cute and I feel weird about it too.

it seems like porn needs a 'certified organic' or 'fair trade' equivalent where you have production companies that ensure 'feminist safe' fare. because yeah, when you see something and think, "she may have said yes to this but i get the feeling she would rather not," it is not really watchable anymore.

      maybe a union?

Until the ostensible "progressive left" and third wavers in particular reject the childish notion that women, no matter who they are or what they do, are sacrosanct, we can never really attack the enterprise of pornography and prostitution for what it is, the paid suspension of a woman's autonomy and sexuality.

So many women are down with this type grotesque exploitation for the same reason so many woman have S&M fantasies and "enjoy" being dominated. We are literally born into the ideology of submission and subjugation, and it is very difficult to accept that what seem to be natural "drives" and desires are the programmed agenda of capitalism and toxic patriarchy.

It is appalling that Jezebel, which has a very high profile, continues to aggrandize these types of behaviours that collectively damage men and women alike, but especially women. There is a growing movement, in what I hope will become the fourth wave, to really examine the role of pornography in the regression in women's progress we've seen in the past few decades.

I've always said that Jezebel was a feminist troll site and to your credit at least you're not even trying to hide it anymore.

Huh. You're absolutely certain that it is impossible for any human being to enjoy subjugation or humiliation without the programmed agenda of capitalism and toxic patriarchy? You're absolutely certain that anyone who claims to enjoy such things is suffering from "false consciousness" as the old leftists used to call it? You're absolutely certain that it is not possible to be paid to be filmed having sex without losing your autonomy or sexuality?

Look, I get that there are actors in porn, perhaps even a majority, who would rather be doing something else with their lives. But do you really consider yourself to be so omniscient that you can eliminate the possibility that some folk actually do enjoy stuff that also plays a role in patriarchal oppression and sexism?

You and me both, she's amazing.

I was really bummed out that she ended up doing those dumb cougarlife.com commercials where the whole narrative is "young women demand things from guys but older women will cater to them, watch this hot older blonde lady offer to buy the man a drink!" People should be lining up to buy HER drinks, not the other way around!
