That's the emptiest, most bullshit non-pology ever! Every attempt at an action claim just goes nowhere. It's a bunch of hollow statements! Let me translate from fetid douche nozzle to English:

We believe that in the midst of this ordeal, there is an opportunity for good.

"I mean, all of us thought it was pretty good when we were raping her... Seriously though, we totally understand that nobody getting punished is bad, I guess. So, yeah, uhm, there's totally an opportunity here for something."

This has prompted us to take a closer look at ourselves and what role organizations like ours may play in ensuring student safety.

    "Done! Conclusion: NONE!"

It's opened all of our eyes to the problem women like Jackie face.

"Yeah, geez, what's her problem? I guess she doesn't know how to have a good time!"

Now it's time to do something about it. As a fraternity, we are going to continue discussing that need in the coming weeks.

"What's that saying? 'Talk is amazing and it's the most we can possibly do?' You're right, we do deserve an award! We rule!" High fives all around...

What should they be apologizing for? They were suspended for something that ostensibly didn't happen.

Alright, I'll presume innocence here and agree that an apology was not necessary. My other point, though, stands. This is full of non-action promises. We'll think about... We'll talk...

I wonder how many people will want to pledge after this? Whether it happened or not, one would think more people would tread lightly on entering the Greek system.

I would be shocked if it affected numbers. Greek life is a huge part of the culture at UVA and tales of rape at the frat houses is nothing new.

It might make people more wary at parties but, to be completely honest, the safest place at the school this semester is probably going to be a Phi Psi party.

I don't think it'll change rush overall very much, but I'd be curious to see how what the Phi Psi pledge class is like this year. I can't imagine most decent guys would want to rush them, even if they were really into the idea of being Greek.

So what, exactly, is to be done then? NBC News reported that the Police said the story couldn't be corroborated...should the chapter have been left suspended?

Well, whoever wrote their statement/handles their PR is doing an excellent job of making empty promises.
