I would say throw the book at her if said book wasn't currently concealing my erection.

Is there a diagnosis that can be attached to this? Because one would think that if there were ever a time when you WOULDN'T have illegal sex, it would be when you were on bail for having illegal sex.

I think it's called ephebophilia if she's attracted to teens, but maybe some kind of sexual compulsion to boot?

So after this photo, her best friend took off this woman's glasses, urged her to let her hair down, and some 1980s pop song started playing as juror Andrew McCarthy suddenly realized how much he loved her, right?

Remember, despite being a teenage boy's wet dream, she's still a predator and this is still not good for their development. Never mind.

Mary Kay Letourneau did this. She was out on bail and still went to have sex in her car, I believe, with the middle schooler she had raped. It's some sort of sexual compulsion or obsession in addition to predatory. It's inconceivable to me as a teacher and as an adult woman. I will never understand it. And the fact that these are very attractive women is also sort of interesting, I guess.

Perhaps this would be a good time to point out that this wouldn't even be a crime in like 95% of Europe. Hell, it wouldn't even be a crime if she lived 1 state away in Nevada. Or pretty much anywhere along the east coast. Or anywhere in Canada. Or anywhere in Central America. Or anywhere in South America. Or most of Asia. Or Australia. Or most of Oceania. Hell let's go ahead and say almost anywhere else in the world aside from exactly where she happened to be.

So she's a rapist and will potentially face life imprisonment and yet a woman who does the exact same thing one state over can do so with absolutely no repercussions.

If that or the fact that our consent laws are about on par with only Africa and the Middle East isn't enough to convince you of how fucked this is then nothing will.

Untrue. It's not solely the age of conset of the victim which is the issue; it's the abuse of her position of power. This is rightly a crime.

Although, Utah does have some fucked up age of consent issues, due to their Mormon history: 16 for females / 18 for males. That gives you some idea of what their priorities were.

Agreed... age of consent in Canada is 16, but that doesn't matter if the older person is in a position of authority or influence.

It pisses me off that people look at pedophiles who happen to be attractive women differently than they do the 'typical' vision of the pedophile (creepy old white dude). People act as if these female predators aren't as dangerous, and it is infuriating.

Because people who were once teenage boys know what it's like to be a teenage boy.

It pisses me off when people misuse the term "Pedophiles" to mean, "Anyone who has sex with someone younger than I approve of."

Pedophilia is a dysfunctional primary sexual attraction to entirely pre-pubescent children. The near-genderlessness of the children in question takes the place of primary and secondary sexual characteristics as the trigger for arousal.

With a boy of sixteen, there are states where this would not be a crime. It's nothing remotely like pedophilia.

/inb4 MRAs come in screaming, "You can't rape the willing," then use this as an example of how "rampant" the rape of "men by women" is anyway.

But, this wasn't rape because rape implies a lack of consent. Just because the law says these teenagers can't consent *legally* doesn't mean they can't actually understand what consent means and be willing to do things. Otherwise, how could we ever try a teen as an adult when they've committed a crime?

The ability to understand what consent is doesn't just magically turn on at 18.

Per my local paper, the Houma Daily Courier (and available on their website at http://www.houmatoday.com/article/201501…):

A teacher at Lafourche Parish's Thibodaux High was arrested for having sexual contact with one of her students. The 25-year-old teacher, identified as Celeste Bergeron, was charged and is no longer working for the Lafourche Parish School District according to Superintendent Jo Ann Matthews (although it cannot be confirmed whether Bergeron was fired or resigned). "This type of behavior will not be tolerated...and will be dealt with swiftly," Matthews said.

So far, this story is rather par for the course, right? Teacher has sex with student, gets arrested, and becomes no longer employed. And now comes the "uh...what?" part:

Bergeron has been issued a misdemeanor summons. That's right—this incident doesn't even warrant a felony conviction owing to the student's age. (17 years is the age of consent in Louisiana, but sexual contact between students and educators is still unacceptable. Due to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, the student's age and gender are not being released.)

If convicted, Bergeron faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. All this because the student, while a minor and a high school student being preyed upon by an adult, isn't enough of a minor.

That's a failure of your state's laws. Most of them he states criminalize student/teacher sexual relationships, regardless of the age of the parties, due to the inequality of the relationship.

In October 2014, an additional teen came forward and testified that Altice had had sex with him, characterizing their relationship as "a teacher with benefits."

When I was in H.S. This was a teacher who brought cupcakes every Friday. Now it's an oversexed-superhot-white woman. My fucking sisters dance instructor was an ex-raiderette for Christ sake. X-box One. Ps4. And now this. These teens today are blessed.
