    lol @ "War on Cops"

We need to break free from this narrative that there is a "War on Cops." No, there is a war on us being waged by cops.

True, but it's a war we created ourselves. Everyone wanted to be "tougher on crime" than the last guy, so we ended up with mandatory sentencing, longer sentences, armored cops geared for war and the largest prisoner to population ratio of any country. Of course, much of that was built on fear-mongering and outright lies by our government, stoking the fears of drug dealers, gangs and terrorists, convincing uninformed voters to vote for the politician that was the "toughest on crime".

No, not "everyone" did. White people did. All of these things are linked back to racist fears of black and Latino people. We can even see this bear out in polling, where trust in police — by white people — is higher than it has been in decades.

The crazy thing is, lately the NY Post has actually been buying advertising on the NYC subway. I don't think I've ever seen them do that before. I mean, the paper has always been a money loser for Newscorp. Seems odd they'd put up all those adds trying to pass themselves off as legitimate.

A lot of their ads seem to play on the fact that they're a sleazy newspaper that's one step above a tabloid, though, and that they seem to embrace it. I think one of the ads is "A GOOD HEADLINE KICKS YOU IN THE EYEBALLS."

"Headlines that get headlines" is one of their advertising taglines on the Subway. Isn't jouralism 101 to not become the story? The NY Post isn't even a newspaper. It's a sensationalist soapbox like the National Inquirer with none of the transparency.

Correction: The name of the man killed by the NYPD in yesterday's article "It's the lawlessness" is not Eric Holder, as originally published. His actual name is unimportant. We do not regret the error.

That's not even the most sensational misrepresentation in that snapshot.

Thank you! I was screwing up my nose before and after "Eric Holder."

If you think that wasn't done on purpose, you don't know how News Corp works.

What I wouldn't give to see the look on Eric Holder's face when he saw that. AM I DEAD? WHAT'S HAPPENING?

If he were dead, he wouldn't feel or see anything. There is no afterlife just like there is no tooth fairy.
