Pretty much anything I can get in the store, I can get for cheaper online. I don't care that it's being drop-shipped from China, it still costs 60% less. No point in braving the shopping crowds.

I have 3 kids and a husband who works most nights. I finish work at 6 and it takes an hour to get home. Why on earth would I spend weekends dragging my kids around stores or go dragging around after work? I can shop on my phone from my bed and someone brings it to the house. Bliss. I can't remember the last time I bought Christmas presents from the store.

I got a present for my mother (basically waiting because someone else usually gets her this particular thing) online, in 3 days. Boom. Beats the heck out of going into retail environment at this time of the year for sure, seeing as I work in the thick of it.

How much of this is because people are ordering Marauder's Map scarves off of Etsy? ::crosses fingers SOMEONE in my family took the hint::

I work in retail, and my store was busier than I can ever remember on Christmas Eve all day today. Usually it's busy in the morning than after 1PM it slows way down...but today it was still a little crazy at 3:30 when I came the hell home.

Merry Christmas, Joyous Yule, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays to all, if you wish me joy, I don't care how you do it.

    - Ogre at Large, feeling festive, finally. :)

ETA Edited for clarity. It's been a long day.

Same, though we're well aware it was going to be busier than black friday. Place was absolutely slammed today. Took me almost 20 minutes just to find someplace to clock out before another customer grabbed me.

Yeah, don't you hate that? You feel like saying "Um, I have to go..." but of course, you can't.

My kids have way too much shit. They don't play with most of it and I'm tired of picking it up. I bought them a few things and that was it. My husband and I usually stick to our budget, but this year we pared that shit right down. My kids know from the jump that they are not getting zillion dollar game consoles and shit like that.

I figured the holiday shopping season was shit based on the glut of emails I've been getting for the past week from just about every store offering % discounts and "free item" coupons. I'm wondering if tomorrow and Friday will bring another glut of emails as they try to get the holiday return/gift card crowd.

Yup. I'm at belk buying Man-dy's daughter a new dress because my dog chewed her Christmas dress, and it's really not that busy. Thank dog.

It is the same in UK where online shopping is becoming ever growing. I think the only big store that is having success here is Debenhams and that's only because of their Christmas single.
