    For me, whenever I hear of situations like this, I often wonder if I could come up with the courage to face these kinds of people. In many ways, it's like staring into certain death, the eyes and mouth of a beast. A virulent monster that has, and will continue to take the lives of many innocent people around the world.

    But, when I get close to losing hope, I realize that I have to soldier on, because if it wasn't for those select few people taking the plunge, and standing ready on the battlefield, I very well would not be alive or existing today. I recognize I have the privilege of living in an accepting community, with a loving and supportive family, in a county where I'm considered a protected class.

    When I see people from my community on the screen, the sense of healing, fear, and pride I get is there, to see someone like myself somewhere. It lets me know someone is fighting for me, and that I should do everything I can, to raise awareness and magnify the voices of the oppressed or people who can not speak, without taking away from their story.

    So, tl;dr. Thank you Dan Sickles, and keep fighting the good fight. Every voice, and every person counts. Let the battle wage on.

      So...Rather than pointing out the obvious influx and growth of fascism, that in itself, tore the country apart when armed neo-nazi's took the capital and killed cops, you make it all about "the fear of Putin to the east"... like....seriously? No Russian agents would care about a LBGT cinema - of course, everyone in the US would get the impression that "oo Ukraine had a LBGT film festival(entirely attended by US diplomats and foreigners, but) it makes Ukraine look so progressive" - but instead of writing the obvious, that the US intelligence is propping whatever they can to support neo-nazi's and fascists through misguided efforts to convince US residents that "they're not fascists, they're freedom fighters", you're instead being complacent with a regime. And guess what! That wasn't the first time there has been violence against the LGBT community in Kiev!!!

      At the scene, according to an entertainment venue staff, law enforcement officers found that shortly before the call to the police came to the administration building about 15 people in camouflage and balaclava (ski masks) and began to commit unlawful acts. Located near the main entrance to the nightclub, unidentified persons threw a smoke bomb and several firecrackers. this damaged the facade of the building, ventilation and outdoor surveillance camera.

      The video captured shows club goers rushed into the building by a bouncer while a gang approaches. The gang, many of whom were dressed in ski masks with neo-Nazi symbols storm the front of the building, kicking and punching in an attempt to get into the club. They quickly fled for reasons unclear. What is even more disturbing is that you can clearly see that some members are wearing Celtic crosses

      A symbol widely recognized by the Anti-defamation league as, and I quote :

Today, this verson of the Celtic Cross is used by neo-Nazis, racist skinheads, Ku Klux Klan members and virtually every other type of white supremacist. It has also achieved notoriety as part of the logo of Stormfront, the oldest and largest white supremacist website in the world.
