The police chief should be fired. Here are his comments from an April article about the stalking:

"He's very distraught over this," Hills said on Monday, adding that he and the borough's police department will stand behind Rozniakowski until the case is concluded. Hills said he has seen the charges and thinks they are overblown and there is more to the story than is currently known.

"Looking at the circumstances, I think a lot of this is bull——," he added.

How's all that bullshit looking now, Mr. Officer.

Plaster this dude's house in these words. Serve them to him for breakfast, lunch and dinner. What a POS.

YES. That and the "everything was taken care of yesterday prior to the incident" quote from a city rep. They are scrambling to protect the city's ass when they didn't put a lick of effort into protecting an innocent woman.

    "75 counts."

And this guy was allowed to remain on duty?

It's true, 12 year olds with air soft guns and people telling you they can't breathe are the real threat.

I have a law professor who was a cop for years and then was asked to join the internal affairs bureau, which she decided to do when she was accepted to law school. Initially, she had no real plan to practice law full-time. She considered herself a cop, and as she had ascended to a fairly high rank in a major city (as a black woman in the 1970s and 1980s, no less), she had no incentive to change careers. After her stint in IA, however, she decided to become a prosecutor, eventually becoming federal prosecutor who worked on some pretty high-profile cases. Her favorite cases to prosecute, and the ones she put the most time and sweat into? Dirty cops. In her opinion, they were the scum of the Earth, and she made it her personal mission to weed them all out. So now she teaches law full-time, but she still sleeps with her gun close at hand and has a concealed-carry permit. The reason? Some of those dirty cops (and to be fair, also some assorted organized crime figures and other certified bad guys) have served out their sentences and are being released, so she has good reason to be concerned. One of her colleagues who had a similar career path was murdered by someone she had successfully prosecuted for a domestic violence situation back in 1986. Internal Affairs is a dirty word, but only among the cops who end up on their radar.

Also, in case you couldn't tell, I have a pretty major crush on this particular professor. She is so incredibly badass and cool in just about every way that I can barely concentrate on anything she says in class...

Valerie Morrow did everything "right", and still she is dead on the streets. This is why people don't report, this is why people don't trust cops. Also as soon as he resigned, someone should have contacted Ms. Marrow because actions like that indicate a state of mind which is deadly.

Also keep in mind that reporting incidents often enrages attackers/abusers/stalkers. So when people DO report, it can often put them in more danger. Le sigh. This cycle is so frustrating and sad.

True. I think the police should have informed her that he had quit. That question is asked on LAP screenings so it's not like they don't know it's a sign.

    I'm most disturbed by this:

"Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whalen explains, "Tom Morrow, at this point hearing the commotion, hearing the gunfire, reached into his nightstand next to the bed, pulled out a revolver and started returning fire.""

Seriously? Before knowing where his wife and stepdaughter are, before turning on the light, he pulls out a revolver and starts shooting? I wonder if they'll ever check to see if it was his gun or Rozniakowski's that hit Valerie and/or her daughter.

I would imagine the story itself is more complicated than this. Probably chalk this up to shoddy writing.

Seriously? This is a story about a notorious stalker who was considered "harmless" by his superiors, yet you're most disturbed by the actions of Morrow (who's now a widower, btw)? Jesus, get a grip.

Does this not say it all?

Depends on whether he's several generations American and white. Otherwise, no, it doesn't say shit other than you don't really have a frame of reference outside of your own life as to how people live.

I want this police chief's job. I want him out, no pension. 75 counts of stalking? I am so sick of these *ssholes covering up for each other.

The police do not care when one of their own does this till it gets to this point and they can't ignore it. My best friends ex stepdad was an abusive stalker. Do you think his department gave a flying fuck? Please.

Even then they ignore it. Look at Drew Peterson whose third wife died under mysterious circumstances and because he was a fellow officer, the police department dragged their feet in investigating him. A coroner's jury ruled her death "accidental" after police officers testified on Peterson's behalf.

Then the fourth wife disappeared which is when the police finally said "Uh-oh" and actually arrested him.

I would also like to add this tidbit from from the Philadelphia Inquirer:

The girl then came out of her room, saw Rozniakowski bent over with his gun near his head, kicked the gun out of his hand, and ran from the house, Whelan said.

And this was after he had already shot her in the arm. This 15-year old is bad ass!
