I love this woman, I am so proud to have campaigned for her in MA and to have her as my senator. I wish she could run AND win for President, sadly I just don't see it. But she can do the party a lot of good, happy they recognize that.

Warren is my #1 pick for Prez, but you're absolutely right — she probably wouldn't win. Maybe as Veep?

Can you imagine the volume of dark money that would be thrown at whoever ran against her? They would never ever let her win. I would canvass for her, I would do anything they needed me to do but I just don't see her being able to win. I would also miss her as my Senator, I know, I'm selfish. :)

For anyone who is interested in what the people in the comments section are talking about when they say "native american scandal!" and "teach the controversy!" (I know I had no clue what they were talking about), read here.

Or, you can reassure yourself by reading from the people who did the hiring at Harvard, that her "native american heritage" wasn't even mentioned, and thus, could have had no impact on her professional life. It was simply a case of talking about what your parents/grandparents have told you, which can be notoriously unreliable if you come from Oklahoma.

The head of the committee that brought Warren to Harvard Law School said talk of Native American ties was not a factor in recruiting her to the prestigious institution. Reported the Boston Herald in April in its first story on Warren's ancestry claim: "Harvard Law professor Charles Fried, a former U.S. Solicitor General who served under Ronald Reagan, sat on the appointing committee that recommended Warren for hire in 1995. He said he didn't recall her Native American heritage ever coming up during the hiring process.

"'It simply played no role in the appointments process. It was not mentioned and I didn't mention it to the faculty,' he said."

He repeated himself this week, telling the Herald: "In spite of conclusive evidence to the contrary, the story continues to circulate that Elizabeth Warren enjoyed some kind of affirmative action leg-up in her hiring as a full professor by the Harvard Law School. The innuendo is false."

"I can state categorically that the subject of her Native American ancestry never once was mentioned," he added.

That view was echoed by Law School Professor Laurence H. Tribe, who voted to tenure Warren and was also involved in recruiting her.

"Elizabeth Warren's heritage had absolutely no role in the decision to recruit her to Harvard Law School," he told the Crimson. "Our decision was entirely based on her extraordinary expertise and legendary teaching ability. This whole dispute is fabricated out of whole cloth and has no connection to reality."

And if they quote a Breitbart article at you, you can laugh yourself all the way to the bank.

The whole "Native American Scandal" crap was manufactured by Scott Brown's fratbro campaign dudes in a desperate, pathetic, and ultimately unsuccessful attempt to cast doubt on her integrity. As if Scott. fucking. Brown has any room to impugn someone else's integrity...

I believe that. I just saw people commenting things like that, and at first I was like, "WTF are these people talking about?", and then I was like, "OHHHH, they're just being idiots."

This is a smart move on the part of the Democrats for superficial reasons also. Get your Nationally known and popular Senators out in front. (Surprised Al Franken is not in there as well, but maybe his state is too small electorally)

Amy Kloubucher is also from MN. She's hugely popular here and rumored to be on the shortlist for SCOTUS.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think a former Congressperson has made it to the Supreme Court in a very long time.

Hey, I don't mean to thread-jack, but who do I talk to if there's some serious shit about to go down at my school, much of it having to do with race gender, and administrative ignorance?

If Ms. Warren is allowed to become the voice of Democratic opposition to the worst Republican policies, she may just help lead the party out of the wilderness.

While it's nice that Warren got a promotion, sticking with Reid still shows how the Democrats just don't get it. It's obvious that voters who skew Democrat are alienated from the entire process and keeping dinosaurs like Reid around isn't going to change that. We need a true progressive party and I don't see that happening within the confines of the Democratic Party.

It won't happen within the confines of the Senate. The Senate rewards square, culturally unimportant rural states comprised of about 7 old white people. And it's getting worse.

And it should be mentioned how big city voters do not have near as much political power in comparison to the square, culturally unimportant, and sparsely populated rural states. That's not changing soon either.

Dear Lord Jebus, magic sky friend son of God. Please oh please let Elizabeth Warren win the democratic primary and not that pants besuited, neocon in progressive costume, Hillary. Amen.

Warren is possibly the only person in either chamber who I feel shouldn't be dumped out of a jet liner at cruising altitude.
