"including one detective who "did not believe that simple rape should be a crime."

From what I've seen in life...that's seems to be pretty much a universal stance regarding Policemen AND Judges in America's Criminal Justice System...

The issue regarding the 2-year old? My Mama was a Foster Parent for years, which meant that she had more than a few dealings with going to Court on the behalf of her children, regarding heinous shit...once she told me of a case where the JUDGE...said that the little 5-year old girl who was sexually accosted by a GROWN ASS MAN...bought it on herself...because she sat on his lap and was squirming...

She told me that when I was a teen...THAT is when I started to truly believe...

    "There is no God..."

One of the reasons why I STILL have my sanity...because when it comes to her children...or really...ANYBODY'S CHILDREN WHO ARE BEING HURT...That scene you posted above...THAT WAS MY MAMA TO THE "T"!!!

That same detective, the report said, told at least three different people that he or she "did not believe that simple rape should be a crime."

This is the exact comment that should be used in arguments made against people who say things like "what you say outside your job shouldn't affect your employment".

Oh no, the detective was transferred to another job. How will he live down the shame?

Was it to people outside the job? Because there are a lot of dipshits in New Orleans. I mean the three different people could have been rape victims who came to him/her for help.

This isn't a real surprise. When crime rates started dropping in New Orleans there was a lot of local speculation that it was due to the NOPD not taking reports of "unsolvable crimes. Ie pickpockets, muggings, etc.

Don't even get me started on what I witnessed first hand when I was helping during Katrina. it just seems like they have some really amazing cops and some real dirt bags. No middle ground.

Patrol cars go underwater and replacement cruisers are needed. Fair enough. What's the solution? Go to a car dealership break into the lock boxes and take keys. Take keys to the cheapest used cars on the lot? No way. NOPD decided to roll in Eacalades, Harley Davidson edition F-150s and what not. Top of the line vehicles and not the actions of one or two rogue cops. This was probably one of the lost egregious examples.

Like I said though, there were also a number of good guy cops who really cared for their neighbors and fellow men. One hates to use worn out cliches but a few bad apples really do ruin the bunch. I could just as easily go on about the really self-less acts I witnessed also.

First of all, I'm going to bet it's "he", not "she". Second, if you don't believe in the law, you should not be a law enforcement officer. Fire them all... out of a fucking cannon.

It was an afterthought, but it's truer to my feelings. It's pretty tame compared to some of the other violent revenge fantasies this inspires in me. I'll spare you all of those.

The most fucked up part of this, is that none of these detectives will probably ever serve any jail time.

In the criminal justice system, sexually based offenses are considered especially heinous. In New Orleans, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit. They give no fucks.

Detective: "Okay. And how does that affect me?"

Excerpted from the New Orleans Police Training Manual:

Did the victim try to bite the assailant's penis off? This is a highly relevant and informative question. Highly scientific research has shown that in every single real instance of rape, the victim tried to bite the assailant's penis off. This research was done at a very old school with many smart (or "intelligent") people who stood around in lab coats holding clipboards.

If the victim did not try to bite the assailant's penis off, then file the report as miscellaneous on the grounds that the sex was consensual.

A handy mnemonic device to remember this rule is this rhyme:

If she didn't bit it, then she meant to hit it.

The worst is that in the case of the 2-year old, the detective "wrote that the victim did not disclose any information that would warrant a criminal investigation and closed the case." A TWO YEAR OLD. And bonus: they just got moved to patrol duty and are still getting paid. Ugh.

investigating is hard work; and besides, it would eat into the whoring/thieving/assault time they really love devoting those hours to...

how in the hell you close out a case where a 2yo child has been raped and left with stds — that is some deep level scumbaggery.
