And, as was depressingly predictable, the dominant power structure ensures its own perpetuation. We grow more divided as a nation—and fuck false equivalences: that's the fault of white Ferguson police force and the largely white Missouri judicial infrastructure (fuck what you think about riots). And the structural injustice of the American system gets to pretend that it is the moderate, reasonable, and above all calm voice of reason, when its equanimity stems not from its moral superiority, but from its moral depravity—and that depravity's centuries-long dominance.

Before everyone blames the media, power structure etc. for this. Perhaps there should be equal or greater outrage for all of the unnecessary death that takes place in our cities every single day. Neighborhoods in Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, etc. may as well be war zones. Why no demonstrations there?

I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone fuck up the tone of something so badly. "Let me talk about how awesome the police have been and how everything is really the media's fault for approximately 1,000 hours before delivering the least surprising news ever, that's the best way to do this, yup, I'm so smart, go me."

It's pretty clear that all you need to get away with murder is a badge. Being white is a bonus.

It was disgusting how he blamed the media and the community for his indictment. What a smug sack of shit.

So it's no charges. DA McCulloch should have had a publicist tweak his statement, because it was way to provocative. He did himself and his office no favors with his tone. He used every point in his statement to inflame tensions rather than ameliorate them. What an ass.

This should have been heard in a criminal court.

I think what benjaminallover is trying to say is that he should have been indicted. If he was indicted then it would have been heard in criminal court.

Did anyone not know this was coming? The prosecutor made it clear that he had no interest in investigating this properly before a jury was ever empanelled. He allowed Wilson to testify before the witnesses did. This was always intended to be a whitewash, rather than an investigation. Now it's time for the Justice Department to step in.

Carry out an actual investigation, rather than a support group for Darren Wilson.

I don't understand how a police officer can shoot someone 6+ times who is unarmed. There's a serious lack of proper training for how to handle situations like this without using deadly force. I think this country really needs to take a look at the type of people that they are recruiting into our police departments and the level of training they receive.

I never really had a doubt this was coming. Still, I would have liked to have been wrong, instead of being completely correct in expecting this to be another case of a shitty (authority) person getting away with a shitty, horrible thing.

I cannot imagine what his parents must be feeling right now.

Is there any particular reason why you, who has not seen any of the evidence presented, would besmirch the members of the grand jury were just doing the best that they could?

I don't doubt they worked with what they had, but I also know there's some really troubling allegations of information being covered up by the department. Add the shitty statistic of cops getting charged for shit they did wrong, and it's hard not to be jaded as hell. Perhaps you should be asking why no one trusts the system to do its' job anymore, but I am sure you don't actually care and think people are just making up a conspiracy.
