Shut up, Peggy. Your articles read like the tawdry musings of a frustrated debutante from the 1950s, full of white hot, subdued, repressed urgings for a 'man' (read: time) that never existed for anybody outside your social circle, and probably really wasn't all that good when you were actually going through it, but since it was simpler than today, it's regarded as somehow 'better'. Slip into your fave hoop skirt and sweater, grab the pom poms, and sit back watching your old Regan speeches on the top-loading VCR and you'll be fine.

I feel like this highly detailed "day in a life of Peggy Noonan" comes from some kind of actual experience around a human being that was a lot like Peggy Noonan.

This is right on the money. She's nostalgic for a idealized era that was/would be a nightmare for everyone else.

Peggy Noonan slamming someone for coherence? I feel like I'm being shouted at by a gin-drunk Lucille Bluth whenever I read anything she writes.

This is the most amount of truth I will read all day. And I'm not just saying that because it's Election Day. Also is it too early for gin?

Personally, I plan on drinking enough today that I don't have to hear the election results until well into tomorrow afternoon.

We should hold people who diminish the threat of Global Warming accountable as we do people who yell fire in a crowded movie theater that leads to injury and death.

Especially if you're a propagandist rather than a sincere denialist. This cunt believes in climate change, she's just a bitter old troll who doesn't care. It's more important to insult your opponents than it is to be right. This is her shtick; she doesn't argue against better ideas, she addresses them with sweeping, imprecise insults, and a veneer of smarm.

She's a good illustration of Harry Frankfurt's distinction between a liar and a BSer.

    Priorities:

    1) flouncy blouses

    2) me time

    3) write more letters

    4) focus on yellow tones this winter to cheer things up a bit. try a marigold scarf for a fun pop of color.

    5) the gays? really?

    6) walk more

    8) figure out if this whole "Arcade Fire" thing is "over"

Excellent up until Arcade Fire. You know there is no way in hell this woman has ever heard of them before. She's been listening to the same Perry Como record on repeat ever since 1950.

Hey, leave Perry Como out of this - what did he ever do to you? What do you have against "There's No Place Like Home for the Holidays"?

I have long held that Peggy died in 1978, but that her body remains animate as a conduit through which Satan can work his will upon the world.

How much money does she get paid to spew such nonsense? If you're not part of the solution, you should get a job as a pundit.

Or, more accurately, if you worked as a flunky for someone in DC three decades ago, you should have a job in the media spewing harebrained claptrap until literally the day you die.

Apparently there's a dearth of qualified political commenters in this world. CBS just signed her YESTERDAY.

It's a complex world, Peggy. You can oversimplify it into simple bromides that can make even someone suffering from dementia sound "coherent," but alas for you (as well as for neoCons like Rove) it doesn't change the nature of reality.

I thought Mr. Obama's prime failing is that he is not an old white man named Ronald.
