Why do people sign up for this nightmare holiday thing? Do family wide Secret Santa with a $20 max like we do. We're all upper middle class, but no one wants to buy or receive a bunch of bullshit. We lazily decorate a tree the week of Xmas, maybe. No one gives a single fuck.

ETA: one year we only did stocking stuffers for everybody during a 30 min spree at Target. My 27 year old brother and I got half condoms. It was awesome and hilarious.

As in someone cut a condom in half and gave half to each of you?

      :P

I'm a poor writer. Half of our stockings were condoms. The other half was random crap we all bought each other from the shopping spree. I used all those condoms, so thanks Santa.

Target's website is TERRIBLE, though. I love Target, I go there once a week and who doesn't love to wander during a Target run? But their website is a misery. It doesn't have even half the stock of a store, is difficult to navigate and can be just plain bizarre sometimes. Maybe they should consider investing in a better website experience instead. For now, free shipping or not, Target isn't even on my online shopping radar.

Target's Canadian website is even worse! They're give you a preview of two or three items, and then just say 'come see in store for more!'.

WORD—it's awful. Shocking from a company that prides itself on innovative product design and a great in-store experience.

That said, I just jumped online and bought a bunch of their Circo clothing basics for my toddler. Sizing and selection are hit-or-miss in-store, it's often cheaper online, and with free shipping, it was a no-brainer.

I've gotten to the point where I actually kind of hate Target. They started out as a way for me to go to Wal-Mart without actually going to Wal-Mart, but now they fail both at being a reasonable approximation of Wal-Mart's convenience (they never seem to have anything), and they fail at being better than Wal-Mart at not being evil (their wages are also low, and they also expect people to leave their families to go to work on Thanksgiving, they are also anti-union, they also donate money in ways I don't approve of). Also, their designer collaborations are almost uniformly hideous and cheap looking. And of course there is the whole data breach issue.

I know none of this is new, so perhaps it seems silly to swear them off now, but this post just reminded me that it is about damn time I stop shopping there as well.

It's never too late, it's never too late. I don't mess with Target unless I really have to. I never find what I need and I end up paying more than I want when I shopped there.

The tea bagger ceo is gone....and IMO far better to shop online than to endure the 9th circle of hell that is Black Friday.

Everything about the holidays gives me anxiety. Just reading this makes feel like I need to take a xanax.

And this is why I used last week's sermon message to tell the good people of my three congregations to calm the fuck down and de-escalate Christmas. This Sunday's message is going to be "calm the fuck down about terrorism & ebola and go get your flu shot if you're so worried about dying." My professors always emphasized the importance of the pastor being a non-anxious presence.

My favorite part of Christmas is that I do all of my Christmas shopping in October and then spend the next three months being smugly sympathetic when everyone complains about holiday shopping.

Yes, I try to get it all done in October/early November too only because I actually really love the holiday season, and don't want to spend any of it stressing about shopping. Sooooo much easier to enjoy when all that's already done.

Their underwear doesn't seem to last me that long, especially anything with lace around the edges, but man is it comfortable!

I do agree that it doesn't last all that long, but it's incredibly comfortable and doesn't give me panty lines. And it's dirt cheap!

I really hate Christmas. I'm not Christian or religious in any way, neither is my family, and yet somehow we feel compelled to do all this. Even worse, when we need to travel at that time of year. Which I'm doing this year because we are seeing my husbands family (are religious) and omg I am really not looking forward to air travel on shitty airlines that always overbook.

Ha! So it looks like their website also offers "Free Store Pickup". So you can buy online, drive to their store, stand in line, show your ID, and pickup your purchased items for no additional fee.......as if any store in their right mind would charge you extra for coming into their store.
