A nurse or doctor with long experience can tell the difference. Will the airport workers?

No, a fucking IgM ELISA can tell the difference. You want to order an expensive, difficult test for every one of the 90 million international air passengers who arrive in this country every year, Pegs? I assume we'll just have them nap in the first class lounge until they're cleared?

Yeah, doctors and nurses can tell the difference so well that they sent an African man, who stated he had come from Liberia, home with a 103 degree fever.

      How 'bout that UT/OU Weekend?

It's a truism in epidemiology that even if you know there's an outbreak elsewhere, the first case always gets misdiagnosed or missed. There are just too many horses out there to catch all the zebras.

Jesus, Greg, know your audience; is that some kind of sportsball?

Microbes are hard to see. You know what else is hard to see? Africa. If we cannot see Africa, do we even know it's there? Where is it? Is it sneaking up on us? Did Africa sneak across the border, right under the noses of the TSA agents who can't even see microbes? Why has our invisible President has allowed Africa, microbes, and African microbes to harm America?

Africa snuck across our border IN THE PERSON OF OUR PRESIDENT. It's a good thing he's disappeared, he must be lousy with microbes.

And henceforth they did consult the Desert Wanderer, she who had supped on the googly eyed wacky cactus and can smell numbers and feel the texture of sound, for all matters of national security, viral babies included. Amen.

Conservatives are such a fearful, quivering bunch- they're like little bunny rabbits in a thunderstorm.

I want to see them stand their ground with a concealed carry handgun against a virus.

No Peggy, the common sense thing would be sending the level of aid and support we've committed to this month a few months ago. The heightened screening is just to keep people like me from destroying our keyboards.

Closing off the entire continent of Africa is an old dream of you and your buddies. Resources out, Missionaries in.

I am so tired of explaining that our president isn't a physician.

It's also exhausting to watch as Senate Republicans combine their Oscar-worthy writhing, wailing and gnashing of teeth about Ebola with their relentless defunding of public health resources, say, or their adamant refusal to confirm the president's choice for Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, whose appointment has languished in Republican Limbo for months now (hint: the NRA has nixed Dr. Murthy because he insists on seeing gun ownership as a public health issue, just because of the deaths and the injuries: and of course what's good enough for the NRA is good enough for the GOP).

You might think it would be kind of useful to have a Surgeon General in the public eye right about now, what with the Ebola and the enterovirus and all. But the Republican Party says not.

Plus the name Vivek implies that he's Indian and Indians are brown and so are Muslims and Muslims hate Merrica.

I'm surprised Pegs didn't declare a war on Ebola and demand that Preznit Benghazi (or his successor after the good people (cough) impeech (sic) him) nuke everyone who has it from orbit. Just to be sure.
