    Tennessee is the very reason that I am no longer friends with someone any longer. When she first moved there she was still basically okay but then she got a job working in the coal industry and that was it- we were off and running. Now, she is not only embracing the god, guns and coal over all other things she is so anti everything I just cannot deal with her. The final straw came after finding out that I had hidden her from my newsfeed so I didn't have to deal with her "coal is our country's foundation and Obama wants to kill that" bullshit so she sends me a long diatribe about abortion and attaches a picture of her newborn granddaughters. One of these twins was not doing well and they had briefly mentioned interventions for her health- none of these were abortion according to the mother's FB feed- but this woman was off to the races about the topic and was not going to let facts get in her way. She wanted me to look at those angels and tell her that one of them should have been aborted. She wanted me to look at those "gifts from god" and tell her that they should not be here. She ended with "I am sorry you hate children and god"

    I did not respond to her. I just blocked her ass and was done with it. You cannot reason with people like her and I don't know why I didn't just unfriend her in the first place. That is now my policy- if I feel like I need to hide you from my FB newsfeed I am just unfriending.

      I don't think children are gifts from god otherwise god is an asshole. There are people who have children that shouldn't while others who want to be parents can't. It is random who gets children and at times unfair.

      She is absolutely horrible. I don't know why she doesn't get it in the grand scheme of things and she is one of those oh no! we can't allow abortions because of "god" but we also cannot allow prenatal care, headstart or foodstamps either. Because of Obama. I do not miss her a single bit and see that another friend is rounding that corner as well. What is up with the bullshit lately?

    First of all. The cognitive dissonance in the photo is shocking.

    The pro-life people came back to my campus. Again. In the pouring rain. I went outside again to piss them off, because they came in with pictures of dead, bloodied fetuses. They were spewing some shit about being pro-choice is equal to pro-abortion. I called bullshit. I said:

    "Being pro-choice does not equal pro-abortion. You do not have to be alright with the thought of abortion to be pro-choice. Pro-choice means you are in support of individuals making their own decisions about what they want to do with their own body. If I remember correctly, that is the ultimate freedom from government, freedom of speech and freedom of religion you ultra-conservatives talk about. And furthermore, you're men, you have no say or right to what a woman does with her body. Now shut up."

    They left about an hour later. I really am such a bitch. All rise motherfuckers.

      Good for you! I often get in tussles with anti-choicers. They always try to argue about the personhood of the fetus, to which I always reply, "The personhood of a fetus is debatable. The personhood of the woman carrying the fetus us not. Game over."

      Yeah, I mean, at school I remember during our sex ed our headmistress telling all us girls "the school will help you, even if you need to keep it secret, I will drive you to the abortion clinic if that's what you want, we will provide you with flexible study if you keep it, you are our priority." So grateful I grew up here.

      You could donate to Abortion Support Network, which helps women from Ireland and Northern Ireland travel to the UK for abortions. Or if you have a mattress, couch or spare bed, you could offer a woman somewhere to sleep before or after her abortion in the UK :)

    So what happens if a pregnant woman contracts a bacteria from unpasteurized juice or cheese? Mercury poisoning from too much sushi? Deli meats and salads? Changing the cat box? All the crap they warn us about being possibly a threat (IF on the itty bitty chance it makes you sick)...is someone going to arrest a woman for contracting E. coli and miscarrying? Holy shit. That's terrifying.

      Considering that up to 1/3 of all pregnancies end in miscarriage, these states are gonna have to build tons of new courthouses and jails. Since a lot of miscarriages take place very early in pregnancy, how many of these rabid anti-choicers are gonna volunteer for the Department of Tampon, Pad & Toilet Inspection? Because each menstruating woman potential child murderer needs to have every bloody clot & knot inspected for the evidence needed to convict her. Or are we supposed to box it all up & send it to GOP legislators who vote for these laws...

    There's still no telling how it's going to play out on election day but Amendment 1 seems fairly unpopular even among conservatives in Tennesse so there's hope. Even still I've been basically forcing my liberaly minded friends to update their voter registration. I may have even delivered voter registration papers and a stamped and addressed envelope to someone's hospital room.
