Yeah, that kind of turned me off too. The kids in the pictures have had their lives ruined and all these twits care about is their social media reputations.

A cool thing to do is brag about how many mutual Facebook friends you share with a pedophile.

It's less embarrassing than saying "my friend, the Congresswoman from Minnesota's 6th District."

That happened on my Facebook a few years ago. My eighth grade Social Studies teacher (who at the time had advanced to principal and Boy Scout Leader) took his computer in to get fixed and they found files upon files of child porn. I noticed on FB a bunch people were talking about how they knew him, had a class/went to church/ate dinner with him.

Then I got an email from a former classmate who was asking for us to sign a letter of support to our ex-teacher :p

And here we have another example of how the monsters that haunt, stalk, and sometimes catch us are far worse than they are in the movies, because we often can't recognize them until it's far too late. The monsters are real, and the ones to really fear look just like the rest of us.

It's especially insidious when children aren't believed because of it. "He's such a nice man, it can't possibly be true."

That's the real key to the entire thing, isn't it? It's the mask worn to allow them to continue the abuse. The strange thing is is that it's so easy to dismiss what the child says, when the child is, in most other circumstances, seen as the naive one, who doesn't really understand how the world works, and who should be questioned constantly as a result. But this sort of thing? When they talk about it? Impossible. A silly impossibility. No further questions needed, child.

He's memorable because he carries his mini-Pomeranian everywhere.

That doesn't sound like an affectation adopted to get pre-teen girls to come up and talk to him at all!

Pre-teen? According to the affidavit there were images of 6 year olds.

Who has 550,000 porn-related jpegs? Is this just a pedophile thing? It seems to always be a detail of these awful stories. I think of my own legal adult JPEG cache and it's like 200 images tops. Even if he looked at 500 images every day it would take over 3 years to view them all.

I know this is not the point of the story, but for me it just makes it all the more disgusting thinking about this perv's insatiable fapping to 550,000 images.

It's pretty common for pedophiles to build enormous stashes of images and videos. Here in Northern California, many defendants were busted for possessing several hard drives worth of child porn. Many of them are in the image trade business.

It doesn't say all of the images were child porn, just that an external hard drive contained 550,00 images. I'm guessing there was all manner of porn mixed with the child porn on the drive.

Imagine being the agents who have to actually view that horrible garbage in order to collect the evidence and describe it in the affidavit. I don't know how they can stomach it.

I believe that there's a kind of hoarding/compulsion that goes on with serial child porn viewers. Especially since the material isn't often stored on the web, or you'd probably see people hoarding regular porn in the same way.
