As a physician, the overwhelming thing I have noticed that most people don't know/care about is that these clinics also function as primary care physicians and pediatricians. Even in Texas, a physician can't make overhead only terminating pregnancies. And as a personal aside, as a woman who had to terminate a planned pregnancy to save her own life last week, fuck these people. Fuck these people so hard.

Yes, most people seem to think that all planned parenthood exists is for abortions. Just like all birth control is for not having babies. As one of the people who live in a state that is into trying to make stuff like this happen, I apologize for it.

I literally got into an argument in the middle of my ER with a mother last week because she didn't want her daughter to get an IUD, (she needed one for the same reason I did - her period had lasted years at a time,) luckily we live in California where the mom had no input into the decision. I was fully expecting to be reprimanded until my chief said "When will people realize that birth control doesn't cause hypersexuality, but being a pearl-clutching, shitty parent does?"

You are right the judges are playing a political game most of the time with decisions like this. But that game is played by both sides. It makes me sick. I wish it were easy to say one side is better than the other, but the truth is, there isn't a better side. They both suck. It's more about which political faction you align more with and most peopel then think that makes them not as "bad" as the other side.

No, it isn't. "Both sides do it" is ALWAYS just a load of libertarian hogwash, trying to justify that conservatives are REALLY doing a bunch of horrible anti-constitutional bullshit to achieve their goals.

Yes, both sides play politics, but do a little homework and compare the platforms of the Democrats vs. Republicans. If you still think they are the same, then I can't even.

I need legislators in the states that enact these regulations to introduce a bill to extend them to all outpatient surgical facilities - oral surgeons, endoscopy, urologists, you name it. Let's "protect" everyone.

The TX legislature knew what they were doing with this legislation because it was already tested out in Mississippi. The courts held the MS instance unconstitutional because it would have closed the state's only remaining clinic, thus forcing residents to seek help out of state, creating a burden on MS neighboring states. The law is an intended end run around Roe V Wade, and that was clear from the beginning, and the courts let that bullshit fly.

I am not surprised by this at all. The Fifth Circuit is a vipers nest of assholes who have proven over and over again that they simple do not care for the people under their jurisdiction. They will always side with the state, the corporation or whatever other non-human entities are involved in the cases before them.

Well they're just taking their cue from the supreme court on that. Corporations are much better than people.

I think the Fifth Circuit should demonstrate its concern for proper surgical procedure by visiting the ebola quarantine wing in Dallas.

This should be a wake-up call to all of the women of Texas as well as all people who care about individual rights. Stop voting Republican and all of this stupid shit will stop. If every female voter were to vote Democrat, the Republicans would lose. So really, the ball is in your court. Run with it.
