I love how all the comments so far are of the "ALRIGHT, BRO. RIGHT ON!" variety, as opposed to the appropriate response. If the genders were inversed in this scenario, I guarantee y'all would be losing your shit.

Yep. Interesting how the MRA types don't actually care about male rape when it happens.

You're correct. I wish that happened to me in high school and I'd be losing my shit if the genders were reversed. I'm unable to reconcile those two points of view. That's how it will remain. Peace out.

The women are predators. The "high five" comments are nauseating. They'd better continue to lock these people up or we'll definitely see more of this nonsense. The kid may have "bragged" about sex with two of his teachers but he's SIXTEEN. That's the f*cking point. He shouldn't be having sex with adults, especially ones that are supposed to be teaching him English. I don't know what's wrong with people who think this is a joke but it isn't. If this were two male teachers aged 24 and 32 who tag teamed a 16 year old girl, there would be no joking. Don't give me the "but he must have enjoyed it" bullsh*t either. I enjoyed a lot of stuff I shouldn't have at sixteen that I regretted later and getting sexually involved with girls is one of them... and those were girls my own age.

There's a reason this sh*t is against people. It's called having a childhood. When you old enough to have kids of your own, if you still think it's hilarious. please don't reproduce.

Thanks for saying that. I'm an adult woman, and I dated a man who was also abused sexually by a high school teacher, and he said at the time that he "processed it as a win". When I met him in his late 30's, he was still "processing" it.

It came up when we were talking about losing our virginity, and his story made my heart sink. I think he had gotten a really positive reaction for the story from his friends when it happened, but I got the sense that he had not told the story for a long time. I told him about some similar transgressions against my own young self, and we sat for a bit just thinking and drinking. He started to get angry, wordlessly, but I could tell. I said "fuck that manipulative bitch" or something, and he started to cry and shout about it. He exploded. I don't think he hadn't ever shouted about "that manipulative bitch", even to himself. It didn't work out between us, but we still keep in touch.

As a woman who has been a victim of sexual violence at different times in my life, it really rips my guts out that men who have experienced the same things don't even have a space within their own heads to acknowledge that something was done to them, and that they can deal with it rather than "processing it as a win".

Once upon a time there was just Letourneau. Now it's practically de rigueur. Like school shootings and disrespecting the president.

I would be curious to hear your thoughts as to why this is the new normal. It's something I noticed as well, but haven't come to any conclusions as to why it's happening.

Right. because what 16 year old guy is good at keeping his mouth shut after he bangs a girl? Let alone two of his teachers. They clearly didn't think this one through.

It has been on nola.com since the story broke and so far it seems like it will have a plot to distinguish it from other similar scandals: The woman on the left is married with 3 kids and has taught at the school for about 10 years AND her father is a judge in St. Charles parish, the woman on the right has only been teaching there for about 2 years but attended the same high school as a student and so presumably had the older woman as an instructor during her student days (although this hasn't been said explicitly). Even without details about the crazy 3 way action a screenwriter could easily turn out Lifetime's next instant classic.

Wait, that can't be right. The one on the left is 8 years older and has 3 kids? That side-by-side is a killer ad for makeup.

So the age of consent in Louisiana is 17. How arbitrary. If the kid was a year older (or the law was a year younger) this wouldn't be illegal; it'd just be hilarious.

It would still be good reason to fire the teachers, even if it were legal. The power difference makes it wildly inappropriate.

I'm not sure if this is universal, but most jurisdictions a teacher cannot sleep with a student no matter whether the student is of age - because of the power dynamic you mention. Wildly inappropriate indeed.
