Rick Astley is an unstoppable force. I've been telling people this since 1987.

Arrrgh!! Children are not aborted!! None of this stupid bullshit helps anyone heal.
I wish these people would get another hobby or do something for the actual children that need help! Can you imagine if they spent all the money they have put into these campaigns, into programs to help underprivileged kids? Now that would be something, but no, they would rather do idiotic crap like this.

I'd actually disagree about dogpiling in this specific instance. Dogpiling a person, I agree with you. But dogpiling a machine is just HILARIOUS. I mean, this clip wasn't intended to be a documentary:

The problem with this tactic is that it allows the anti-abortion activists to write-off all pro-choicers as dicks who think it is funny to name a "dead baby" POUND SAND INTO YOUR ANUSES.

On the other hand, do the people running the Twitter think there were no abortions before Roe v. Wade? That making it illegal will mean abortions will stop?

They're stupid, but not that stupid. They want women and only women to be punished for having sex. They want them to die from an illegal abortion. They want them to have kids they can't support and then they can talk about how irresponsible they are to be poor. The want women to be in emotional pain. They know damned well it won't stop abortions and they don't care. They just want to hurt the women who get pregnant and the children who are born. If they didn't want that they would be pushing for access to contraception, more welfare benefits, free child care, universal health insurance and a minimum salary so that all these kids and their parents can have a decent, healthy, happy life. Instead they are against every single thing that could help women not get pregnant. The also oppose every single program that could give a woman reasons to think that having a child won't ruin the woman's life and the child's life. Until the RTL people start working to make life better for women and their children all they are are people who want to punish women for sex.

People's whose opinions and values you respect?

You are NOT seriously talking about these anti-abortion trolls.

You know the same ones that shame female sexuality, would like gay people to disappear and would have us live in a christo-fascist state if they had their way?

No; I'm saying the same tactics have been used against people whose opinions I respect and value. Nowhere in any part of this post did I say those were anti-abortion trolls. My point is if the tactics are wrong to use against the people whose opinions and values I respect, then I would be a hypocrite to say the same tactics are OK against people whose opinions and values I do not respect.

First, fix your writing, your point is not clear and could be taken as supporting the trolls.

Regardless, your attitude of "Well I don't like it when people I agree with are attacked, so I don't think it's okay to attack people whose opinions I don't agree with.

So take the higher ground...which accomplishes NOTHING except making you feel like a better person for not mudsling and makes you a bigger problem than the haters.

I love how these folks always act like abortion wasn't invented till 1973...

In reality, the rate of abortion didn't greatly increase post-Roe, and in fact has greatly declined over the last ~25 years. The main difference is that women no longer bleed to death in alleyways.

I just found out I'm pregnant and I'm fucking scared to death. Gonna call to make an appointment to not be anymore today. Thoughts on medical v. surgical, anyone? I doubt this will get seen in the greys but I could really fucking use some reassurance/answers. I have no one I can talk to this about.

Ok, I haven't visited the website but from the description it seems to me like these people aren't forcing their opinions on anyone. It could just be a mode of offering closure to people who lost children right?

My point is, you might have an archaic point of view but as long as you aren't picketing an abortion clinic or trying to shove it down someone's throat do you really deserve to be "trolled"?

No, they don't. These days there are far too many people on both sides of the political spectrum that are completely incapable of respectfully allowing people to have different opinions, and instead feel that a different opinion gives them absolute license to be a complete, morally sanctimonious asshole. Just look at all of the dickish responses about Christianity in this thread.

In my opinion... yes, they do deserve to be trolled. This is kind of sick when you think about it. I'm fairly certain that at least a few people have named the children they lost to abortion. This twitter bullshit is mighty fucking presumptuous if you ask me. I lost my first to abortion due to some serious shit. It had a name and for some random stranger to decide to give it a name they chose "because Jesus" is WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS. I don't agree with all the crap that was posted, but they got what they deserved trying to insinuate themselves into many people's personal choices with their agenda.

We started the conversation about language. If we want to accurately portray their position instead of using semantic attacks, in cases like this, we should refer to them as either anti-abortion or anti-abortion rights. If they're also anti-contraception and anti-sex ed, then the anti-choice label is more appropriate.

The term "Anti-abortion" is a form of semantic attack because it suggests, semantically, that the opposing side is "pro-abortion". This isn't the case.

The whole debate centers around whether women have the right to make reproductive choices about their own bodies. Anti-choice people say they do not: that women cannot choose to have an abortion.

I have crazy mad respect for you for your stance on this. It's all too common for people to approve of tactics when they use them and then bash the other side when they use them.

If it brings some sort of closure to name and pray for anonymous people who had abortions that doesn't bother me. It's fairly impotent as far as anti abortion actions are concerned.

But it's problematic, these are not children that are aborted. They want to blur the line between a fetus and a child and it's just wrong. Plus what closure do they need? Any abortion I have, doesn't impact their lives, just like the ones that they in fact do have, don't impact mine.
I cannot get on board with this bullshit.

I completely understand what you are saying. I guess I am more of a "this doesn't hurt me so I don't care" person. I'm not on board with any legislation or picketing or what not. It's my same stance on the Mormons baptizing people after death.
