    I know Callie was joking with the comment about DiCaprio and Ruffalo at the People's Climate March, but it is sort of a valid point. It's one thing if they were already in NYC. But if they weren't, isn't flying across the country (possibly on a chartered plane) to protest environmental issues kind of like eating a hamburger to protest for animal rights?

    Sorry — my dad's an anti-climate change guy, and while I think he's 99.99% full of crap on it, his "why doesn't Al Gore stop flying everywhere if he cares so much?" thing actually makes some sense to me.

      That's bullshit logic. It's not simply about a few celebrities avoiding the addition of another couple of tons of carbon into the atmosphere: its about policies at a national level that will incentivize EVERYONE to use less carbon. Because that's how shit actually changes, not by the smug actions of the few people who could actually afford to.

      Okay, but again, do they need to physically go there to make the point? Is there some magical reason John Boehner will start believing in climate change because a few actors went to a march instead of lending their support remotely? I guess I can see a publicity argument, but that seems weak.

      I agree the carbon footprint of a handful of extra plane rides (which I don't even know existed, because it's not like I have Mark Ruffalo's travel schedule at hand) is trivial in the grand scheme of things.

      I was waiting for someone to make this comparison. I don't watch 30 rock but I've seen a pretty lengthy clip for this particular episode and Arianna Grande is like the sexy baby parody so explicitly it's kinda creepy. I keep forgetting she's like 23.
