  I mean, not to defend the guy, but wouldn't bad behavior like that be an indicator that he may have some sort of substance abuse problem? Specifically the assault on the waiter (which, if I remember, he was totally wasted for).

I'm only slightly ashamed to admit that I actually like Scott. He's a tool of the first order but he lost both of his parents in less than a month (not manufactured) and had to recover from it on TV. It's awful but I kind of really hope that it's [the OD] fake. But I don't think it is.

  This is what I keep coming back to as far as his current behavior is concerned. I'm not a drinker, I don't do drugs (pharmaceutical or otherwise), but if I lost both of my parents like that I'd be a wreck and I don't even want to imagine the shit I would do.
  
  I don't really watch the show very often (usually on Sat. afternoon when nothing else is on), but from what I've seen, he wasn't doing so bad before his parents died - as far as being an asshole and drinking. His current behavior really seems to stem from that loss.

I agree that it will have real-life implications, but is Daddy OD-ing really any worse than Mommy's sex tape (in North's case, anyway)? I have never watched the show, but this family seems to stop at nothing for publicity.

  Truth. But I was speaking under the assumption that everything this family does is convoluted bullshit since that seems to be their M.O. In that case, a dramatized overdose doesn't necessarily seem more damaging to a child than watching mommy get sexy?

Can one of your earnest reporters get the facts straight about Kim's tape for some of your meaner commenters? That is was released maliciously without her permission and that she successfully sued over that fact? That E! had already greenlit them and that the tape was released to be mean, not in some secret way to get publicity for the fledgling show? No woman would release something so intimate (and so boooooooring), no matter what the possible reward was, and the Kardashian-Jenners had noooo idea how successful the show was going to be. Kim was dating Reggie Bush at the time, Ray J was a classless opportunist, and it devastated their family, which you can see for yourself as it unfolds in the first season of the show - its a documentary people, a soapy, very intentionally angled one, but a doc all the same. Their family has all come around to the idea that they are called to put their shit out there for the world to see, for better or worse - and I'm a bit of a diehard fan and will defend them with all the words I've got in me. Why hate so hard on something that is ultimately kind of loveable - a family who's enterprising matriarch found a way to get her entire brood paid to hang out and stay together as a family?

  Are you seriously defending Kris Jenner? I watched those same episodes and they weren't devastated. Kris, the "enterprising matriarch" made Kim pose naked for Playboy when she really didn't feel comfortable doing so in the same season they feigned concern over a sex tape. She instilled shallow values in her children so they could all get rich and famous. All I see are a bunch of unapologetic fame whores, and it disturbs me to see that people actually believe they are kind of lovable.

I'm so torn between loving and hating Scott. I love him because he actually is self-aware and is genuinely hilarious and does not suffer the horrid Kris Jenner. I hate him because he's a genuine dick and all around terrible person.

Okay, yeah, I hate him. He's just slightly better than the others (with the exception of Khloe).

  I'm thinking the LD must different depending on how you are exposed to Kardashian. Direct contact with Kardashian must be far more lethal than audio / visual intake, although I don't know how any of us have survived for so many years. That poor man.
