My eight year old is going to be CRUSHED by this development. I, on the other hand, will be thrilled to finally put an end to the stream of toilet paper roll lightsabers, binoculars, swords, nun-chucks, telescopes, Hot Wheels car tunnels and megaphones that is threatening to take over my house.

MY DOG IS DEVASTATED. DEVASTATED. The joy of sneaking a toilet paper roll out of the trash and chewing it up is something I can't even comprehend. It's like watching a little kid take their first roller coaster ride.

So basically, he used a towel.

Be careful of that Toilet Paper Encyclopedia. I was up till 3 am reading that thing. My boyfriend is fully out of exasperated sighs to respond to my "HEY DID YOU KNOW..." comments with.

I recycle mine, but wouldn't mind being rid of them! Are the rolls going to be cheaper too?

I'm impressed that such a feat is even possible, to be honest. I know my toilet sure wouldn't be having that.

My toilet would spit it back out in my face, slam the lid, and tell me to fuck right off. Low-flow don't play that way.

It's a good idea if it keeps the tubes out of landfills and sewage systems, since some people flush them down the toilet

    WHO DOES THIS?!

Terrible people. Probably the same people who flush their tampons.

This has been a thing in commercial buildings for years. I'm glad it's finally branching out, even though I feel sad for the guinea pigs of the world who will have fewer toys to munch upon.

I weep for all of the elementary school craft projects that will have to be jettisoned for lack of an adequate cardboard tube supply.

I thought Scott started doing this several years ago.

ETA: Yup, in 2010. I wonder what's behind the fact that they are pushing it again. Are they rereleasing the line?

That must be it, I guess. Weird, because that article I linked to says the writer got the rolls from Kimberly Clark. Whatever it is, good for the environment, well done Scott.

With that, I have officially spent way too much time today wondering about the machinations of a toilet paper company.

So? This is a case where it's a win-win. It IS reducing an area of waste, which is good for everyone, appeals to people who care about that, is more convenient (I only buy this type of TP unless it's not available in a store, I have been for months now) AND has the benefit to the company of reducing costs. It's a marketing advantage that also reduces cost and diversifies their products, which is awesome. Besides, unless I am misunderstanding the article, they are promoting a specific product that comes without rolls, not saying that they aren't making things completely without rolls - so they have to do separate production runs to accommodate the different types of product and possibly make changes to production.
