Hamilton, you are not familiar enough with this subject to use the word extort. You are familiar enough with trolling to use the word extort here though. So, it seems we are at a crossroads.

Bottom Line: Nobody gets financed for free. You don't like financing costs? Don't have debt.

Yeah, that is a gross simplification of the situation. You could learn a lot from John Oliver I bet. Don't let me extort you into it, though.

This may come as a shock to you but not all "debt" is a 100% voluntary or democratically sanctioned. That's one of the central critiques of both global banking and debt peonage in general.

Holy crap, that is a stupid reading of what her firm was hired to do. Argentina, because it's a mismanaged mess, is trying to get away with not paying its debts.

If she wasn't a famous person, you'd be very close to slander.

Argentina is not "trying to get away with not paying its debts." It refinanced its debts years ago, except for a few vulture holdouts like the scummy Paul Singer's Elliott Management. Argentina was in fact trying to PAY its creditors before a US judge, at Singer's instigation, blocked BNY Mellon (which was the trustee bank) from releasing the money. That's why Argentina is dropping BNY Mellon and using a new trustee, so that its attempts to pay are not blocked by corrupt US law. It is you who need to understand the facts.

When asked if her exorbitant consulting fee was justified, do you think Albright winked, said "we think the price is worth it" and then let out an evil neoliberal laugh?

Yeah, always good to remember the sanctions killed almost as many people as the war itself. Almost.

Singer's role as the head of the vulture hedge funds robbing Argentina needs to be more widely told, and frankly told. Most of the mainstream press in the US, not to mention the financial press, is basically telling the story as "Christina Fernandez is a deadbeat."
