I'm starting to think that maybe, just maybe, drug busts are more about making money for the police units involved, than they are about protecting the public...

The DEA was purchasing private information about customers, including credit card info, which yes they may have been able to get through subpoena but they bypassed any measure of oversight, process, protection of rights to make more cash.

Amtrak, unlike the DEA, also provides real services people need.

Your tax dollars were used to rip off another government agency, which required more tax dollars. You helped pay for this and likely paid more because of it. That's where the outrage is.

Ourselves? The DEA is probably the most worthless law enforcement organization in this country. The bastard child of Harry Anslinger's BNDD (Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.) I'm pretty sure Nixon was responsible for expanding this pit of cowboys and PD rejects. Unprofessional, verging on criminal behavior, to make sure some kid in the burbs doesn't fire up a joint. Have we won the "War on Drugs" yet? Pro tip: we will win this war when we win the "War on Terror."

"Thanks for the tip! You can now quietly retire."

      - Amtrak

"Quietly retire? Yes, I suppose we can agree with that language."

      - DEA
