are you sure you wouldn't rather throw a men's rights shit fit and blame feminists for denying you what patriarchal, hasidic law has dictated?

and you could still wear the getup ... cuz boys should be allowed to wear whatever makes them feel comfy and empowered

The Orthodox woman tossed her head. "That's just for men," she said, with a little smirk. "We can listen to anybody."

Slight confusion: I get that men can't listen to women, but women can listen to anyone — so were non-Hasidic dudes barred from the audience because women aren't supposed to sing in front of men, or because the largely-Hasidic audience would be more comfortable rocking out in an all-women crowd?

Hasidic women aren't supposed to sing in front of men, and men aren't supposed to listen to them sing. Hasidic men are allowed to sing in front of women, and women can listen. Basically the halakha assumes that women either won't be 'riled up' by the sound of a man's voice or are more capable of keeping their lust in check than men.

They must've never heard of Barry White or D'Angelo.

    "slightly unholy hora"

If the band doesn't change their name to this it will be a miscarriage of justice.
