    Clearly socioeconomic factors and therefore educational opportunities have some effect on cognitive development—improving social conditions, can play into increased gender equality

    I'm willing to bet you'd see the same thing happen for PoC if the socioeconomic race gap in the US narrowed substantially.

      When people are told they are subordinate and stupid, they have a more difficult time completing intelligence test tasks. People forget that for thousands of years, women were essentially owned by their husbands in a LOT of places, even in the best circumstances—it takes time for intergenerational trauma on such a large scale to undo itself.
